I’m trying to use Yahoo Answers but it’s just impossible. Every time I go into a question the page just keeps expanding into infinity and everything is out of reach bellow the screen. If any of you guys use Yahoo can you try it to see if it happens to you too? Just go to Yahoo, click on Answers at the top of the page, and then click on any of the topics (questions) that are on that page. Does it all keep moving down into infinity like mine or is it just me? I’m using Chrome by the way.
August 31, 2017 at 8:58 am #11325Using a Chromebook here and it’s fine.
August 31, 2017 at 9:17 am #11326OK here too – all browsers, Windows 10.
August 31, 2017 at 9:23 am #11327Hmmm. Strange. Someone answered my question on Yahoo Answers but I can’t ask for a clarifications as it all just scrolls down out of sight and when I try scrolling down to catch up it just keeps running away from me…
August 31, 2017 at 9:49 am #11329I’m really trying not to be rude when I ask this, but why would you trust, or even ask a question in the first place, when you see some of the questions already on there?? I just went to try for you, but was astounded at the level of questions I saw. The inanity of what was on there, whether asked as a genuine question or not, was beyond belief. The whole site would seem to be as beneficial as using a Public page on Facebook as your dating diary!!
Examples.
Why does u think atheists always loose debates on religion?
How do I convince my girlfriend to wax her arms?
IF A WOMAN HAS MISCARRIAGE, is it HER FAULT OR GOD FAULT?
HAVE YOU EVER BROKE UP WITH SOMEONE. was it nasty or nice?
Ok so i cheated on my bf with one of his family members?
I’m sorry, but that site is a waste of bandwidth.
August 31, 2017 at 10:58 am #11330If you ask an intelligent question you usually get an intelligent answer. Since my question (mathematical) is way beyond an idiot’s ability to comprehend I am not worried, a stupid answer by an idiot is very unlikely.

August 31, 2017 at 2:28 pm #11332Or they may answer; is it the questioners fault or gods that he doesn’t know the answer? Also if he would of waxed his arms, God may of given him the answer. Either way no one should give this hair heaven answer untill he 1.waxes and 2 accepts the lord.
Yahoo has been crap for years. I fear for Flickr. Luckily they wax.

I was thinking more along the lines of Stack Exchange (for maths, it would be Maths Stack Exchange). This has the benefit of not requiring users to log in to view the response (unless Quora has stopped that now).

August 31, 2017 at 3:19 pm #11340I would not go near Yahoo-anything without a tin hat, Dettol and gloves. Every malware invasion I ever had, was connected with Yahoo in some way.

I’ve recently had notification that AOL is now OATH ( I’m sure Bob has already directed a few of those their way!! ) – see HERE – with Yahoo, under Verizon. I have already started migrating my useful logins away from that and onto Gmail. I’ll either use it for one-off logins or “disposables”, but seeing as most of my Spam ( albeit well filtered by Gmail ) – comes via them, and is mostly US oriented, I might well close it down after a year of monitoring for any logins I’ve missed.
August 31, 2017 at 4:58 pm #11346Quora still requires a log-in but that tends to stop spam – you cannot win!
Although Stack Exchange is very good, the mods are a bunch of anal nit-pickers who are very unhelpful to those they deem not to have made enough effort. e.g ‘The question has been asked before – naff off’ this is a frequent reply even when it is obvious the person posing the question is a noob.

Don’t know about you, but I find it infuriating, looking through FAQ’s or forums for (eg) anti-malware or anti-virus companies. It’s not as easy as they make it sound. You put the essence of your question into their search box and 985 replies are displayed. Do they really expect you to read each one for the answer that may be closest to your question???
September 1, 2017 at 1:01 pm #11356JCD, IMO some of those forums are populated by a few smartass knowalls, who want to display their extensive knowledge (or lack of) without actually helping anyone. There are exceptions and not every site is like that, but that kind of misplaced arrogance would make me grind my teeth, if I wasn’t so careful with the ones I have left!
