I’ve had a script I’ve been relying on Linux for a few years that someone else wrote that pastes items for you – I use this to automatically add the date to file names or to expand emails from an abbreviation.

Recent attempts to use it have proved to be problematic and I can’t figure out why. Anyhow I replaced it today with xclip and it seems to have done the job – I’ve no idea why

      xsel –input

hasn’t worked but the relevant xclip input has ಠ_ಠ
