Lol, I just jest. Just shows they can all make huge mistakes. If that was our guy all the lfc fan base would want him shot. But when your rated one or two, it’s just one of them. We have it with VVD atm. When he makes a mistake, no one moans, but when his partner does, he gets dogs abuse.
That’s the best bit about being rated in the top group, your allowed to make a mistake, as they (and the fans) know, you can’t go out an get better.
As much as our lad messed up, I still want him to stay. I’d love a 80mil keeper, but I still think there is a great keeper in karius. I’m probably wrong. But the football romantic in me, wants him to come good.
Tbh that match wasn’t that bad. 1-1 even with mo going off would of been a fair result. Which is what it was when you take out our keepers howlers. And they still needed a wonder goal.
We had them if mo stayed on. No hard feelings to Ramos either, I love a payer with needle. If I was him I’d of kicked mo off the pitch too. And no one does it better than Ramos. Really skirts that like, and uses all the dark arts.
As soon as mo went off, it meant he could push on with no regard, and we dropped 20 yards. Strangely I was over the game with half a pint.
June 16, 2018 at 9:54 am #21956It will be interesting to see France play in the next hour, there meant to be the dogs nut’s. There only playing the Aussies though.

June 16, 2018 at 12:47 pm #21967To be fair to Karius, it is now being said that he was suffering concussion during most of the game, but this from the Liverpool Echo has another former goalie blaming Jurgen Klopp!
I think if the concussion had been noticed, he should have been substituted and Mignolet brought on. Although it’s all done with now, time to forget and move on. I just hope that Karius uses the experience to improve and fronts up, gets better, doesn’t let it affect him. All rests on the first reception he gets from Liverpool fans next season and I expect they will give him the support he needs. I remember the Kop giving Peter Shilton some grief at the start of games, mainly when Shilts and Ray Clemence were competing for the England No.1 spot. They later applauded Shilts off the pitch for some great saves.

I'm out.June 16, 2018 at 4:30 pm #21970The kop has a tradition of always clapping away keepers when they aproch the goal, and to applaud good performances, (but I doubt that’s only a kop thing).
I fear for karius, there is many that would rather he was hung from the crossbar, than play in net for us. Alot reckon the Dr that diagnosed the concussion if false, cos there is links between the hospital and the club.
I can’t see it myself, but many don’t buy the diagnosis. If I was him the day after the game I’d of been on the phone to my agent, telling him to get me out of here.
Sadly for karius, both out other two keepers are departing this summer, so I can’t see him being allowed to leave.
The main issue with him is, no matter how good he plays, every mistake will be micro analysed now. He will never shake the cock up of Kiev, as long as he is at Liverpool.
I think for his own career he should seek to rebuild it elsewhere. Saying all that I’d love him to still be no1 and banish the demons.
June 16, 2018 at 4:32 pm #21971Lee, France and Argentina was both poor. Same old first game fears. may be these next two ‘lesser’ games may spark.
June 16, 2018 at 7:13 pm #21976Peru were good in parts, but just could not get the ball in the net. For Denmark, everything went through Erikson, who was making the low crosses that Dele Alli and Kane profit from. There was no one in the Danish forward line who could deal with them properly, until they got the break. They do break quickly, and were more direct than Peru. Can’t see either going far.
Iceland were at their brutal best, knocking the Argentinians about all over the pitch, but scored a great goal from a young player. Messi missing a pen was almost unbelievable and he was bossed out of it I thought. Has he gone behind the shadow of Ronaldo?
Croatia v. Nigeria should be better.

I'm out.June 16, 2018 at 8:32 pm #21979Not so far it’s not Bob. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I loved the Iceland game and felt very sorry for Peru, especially the penalty taker. Spain vs Ronaldo I enjoyed too.
Full time update: Yep, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Nigeria where were you?
June 16, 2018 at 10:03 pm #21981Spain v Portugal best game so far Dave, that will be a classic video for a long time I think. Very disappointed in Nigeria just now. A Croatian team that is their Golden Generation, quite a few over 30 now, almost completely in control.
Whenever I watch Iceland play, I am taken back to the England Euro disaster. SWMBO and I were in Chester on holiday at the time and I had persuaded her to let me watch from the Guesthouse 50″ Panasonic. Can’t tell you how many times I was asked “Was it worth it then?” over the next couple of days.
Women can be cruel and my Gert hates football.

I'm out.June 18, 2018 at 6:36 pm #22033Belgium will be our toughest group game, if we can get over the Tunisian hurdle. Lukaku is a battering ram, De Bruyne and Hazard are on fire.

I'm out.June 18, 2018 at 8:31 pm #22035Wish I was going to be in Belgium on the 28th the atmosphere will be fantastic, should have planned properly.
Off to Vienna two weeks later when the semis are on. Even though Austria aren’t involved they’re footie mad enough to be showing it somewhere. We want to visit the summer stage – outdoor pop up restaurants and bars on the bank of the Danube – and it looks like they are going to be showing the footie. Win win.
I’ll be back for the Final and so will be #1 son. Let’s hope for a miracle ?
June 18, 2018 at 9:11 pm #22037It’s been two days of good games. Quite enjoying this.
June 18, 2018 at 10:07 pm #22038Dave, we need several miracles after the Tunisia game. I almost fell off my chair when Harry Kane scored the second, 2 minutes from the end of added time. The Tunisians were not half bad, but spoiled themselves with blatant time wasting. Also think the Ref should have seen Kane dragged to the deck TWICE in the penalty area. Unless we really up our game, Belgium will destroy us. We need goals against Panama.
Steve, I thought your captain JH played very well, along with Harry Maguire, the only player making forward runs from deep. He also made the headers that gave Kane the goals. Although why Southgate continues with Ashley Young, beats me. One style, one way, no initiative. I could take better free kicks with my stick.

I'm out.June 19, 2018 at 6:39 am #22040JH is very underrated b y football fans. There is still a section of Liverpool fans that hats him. Though he is slowly winning most over. He is very good at picking out a through ball, and injecting some pace into the game when needed.
Oir front 3 get all the credit, but someone had to set most of the moves off. His issue is, he doesn’t make a good Match of the day player, so opposition fans don’t get to see what he does. Same issue with Bobby firminio. He quietly goes about his business enabling all around him.
England first half was good, fast and dynamic. Very unlucky in front of goal. Lingard should of had about 4. Though I can’t pan a play that keeps getting in the positions. That 90% of the hard work done. Second half we tired. I did like Loftus cheek, he rolled his player like a boss in one instance, and he really helped us pushing forward. Though the pundits said they didn’t see why he come on.!!!
Rashford… Why didnt he hit that ball?
Good to see kane get two, should set him up well.
The game did peter out, but I did enjoy the majority of it. A first for many years for me and England.
I thought the 6 games over the last two days was very good. I sent my youngest to her Nan’s over the weekend, the others was in work, and I done naff all but watch footy. Before the WC, given the 11 time zones, I was worried the games would be all over the place. However, it’s been on of the best timed events I can remember in a good while.
Did you see the mozzies and the amount of spray every one was applying. That’s what you get building on wet land, and paying at dusk.
Also, Putin had done well, scaring the hooligans off the streets. There is up sides to an dictatorship. Apparently he sent out the FSB to threaten the local mafias, to keep the peace in their cities. Basically they have been told, if they can’t behave F-off out the country for a months, or else…
There is something I quite like about that. Even though I shouldn’t.
June 19, 2018 at 8:12 am #22046It made me chuckle when I heard a report on the news that they’d closed the factories down to clear some of the pollution out of the air in one of the cities – Volgograd iirc.?
June 19, 2018 at 8:53 am #22047Young, Walker and Sterling were all rated as liabilities by the Beeb.
Sterling has been very disappointing compared to his City performance, he is probably trying too hard. He needs a goal or two to lift him out of his rut.
June 19, 2018 at 9:16 am #22048It was a ducking farse from the very begining. Firstly how can anybody be expected to play there best with all them midges. The game should of been moved, some one must of known that was going to happen. Then the missed two blatant penalties that went un-noticed by the ref and var then all the blatant diving and time wasting by the Tunisians also no interest from the ref and var. What was going on in the var room? A Russian with a shot gun? Not to mention that sterling and lingard. They could not got a double decker bus is if it parked up along side them. Then there is the goal keep, he must of seen a video of Hart coming out of the goal area by an hundred miles and thought it was a good idea, that will come and bite us in the arse. Deli is next useless as well as walker and the “predator” the only hope of getting all goal. Well now everyone knows to just pin him to the floor. On top of that a picture broadcast that was flickering and changing brightness, why only when the England match is on? Midges in the works? Rubish. What match was the BBC watching? Praising England, they played good for 15 mins in the first half. The rest was league 2 stuff. What a load of rubish.
That’s a few of my thoughts anyhow.

June 19, 2018 at 9:55 am #22052I thought it was the best England display since 96. Though it doesn’t say much about England.
I didn’t see the flies as a big deal. That’s what happens when you operate at dusk or Dawn. Disney close the outdoor style rides and attractions in them hours to minimise any potential guest illness.
It’s actually really interesting the length Disney go to.
Some of our players looked off the boil, but they still made chances, so all is not lost. I’d rather we was creating and missing, than not creating.
The level of the football in general hasn’t been great so far. Most goals have been from set pieces. Match 2 teams will be getting a bit more desperate, so it should open up the games.
I see yet another WC ball is being moaned about by the goal keeping community. They act more like fly aways, year on year.
It wouldn’t be good for marketing, but I’ve always thought, the new balls should come out after a WC and at the next WC so everyone is use to how the balls work. Sounds a daft statement, but the dynamics and predictability of the balls really change from gen to gen. You’d think they wouldn’t want the variables of the ball overtaking the actual talent on display.
But hay, at £150 a pop, it’s a good marketing avenue. Plus the ‘cheap’ £30 replicas, will sell by the millions over the next 12 months.
June 19, 2018 at 9:17 pm #22082” Sounds a daft statement, but the dynamics and predictability of the balls really change from gen to gen.”
No Steve, it’s not daft. How many corners and crosses have we seen, from all teams, that sail across the goal and miss everyone? How many long passes upfield, go sailing out for goal kicks? Long before this era, my old man (a Staffordshire County Schools player, circa 1918) used to say that ” …players today play in running pumps and kick balloons.” That would have been around 1975, I don’t know what he would make of it now. All I know is that I was once knocked spark out at 14, heading an old leather ball off the goal line. Running across a mud heap pitch in heavy old leather boots, counting blisters in the dressing room. Sorry dad, but I would have preferred playing with footballs and boots of today!
RIP dad, still love and respect your memory.
Have to say a word about Mo Salah. ?? It doesn’t matter how talented one player in any team might be: he’s only as good as those around him, and the service he gets from them. He worked his socks off and he got the goal he deserved, but the Russians were just too good for his teammates. As for Russia: you can only beat what they put in front of you, and how can you argue with Won 2, For 8 , 1 Against? How on earth this Russian team lost the last 7 before the WC, is a mystery. Drug checks please!??
