If you use ANY version of Windows consider blocking the Samba ports 139 and 445 for a while as there is a live zero day exploit out in the wild. CERT link.

This does of course need someone else to have a badly maintained server (any OS) to which you link and set up a samba file transfer.

Going to nick name you the bringer of doom, never any good news :yahoo: I run a samba server although fully up to date but I’ll have to look into it I guess.

Unless you are running your server under Windows I would not bother – assuming of course that your Linux OS is fully patched.
