Here it is. The * just goes to a footnote about eligible previous Windows and general flim flam.
My assistive technology provider (Specsavers) confirms my product is W10 compatible, but only with the optional non glare coating (£20 extra) ?
March 5, 2017 at 9:45 am #4814Has anyone tried using voice to text? I know some of us are, ‘of a certain age or more’ also that some have accidental damage or other issues. Voice to text can be very useful and I am sure that is a form of assistive technology, by the way it does take a little training which might be time well spent before an urgent need hacks you in the shin.
I also use the screen magnifier when the old eyes play up, but all of our current machines have already been Windows 10ed.
However accidents do sometimes happen and need to be overcome and one of the party already gets a disability payment so that might count for something as well.

Something to think about and a good way round the wasted HDD space.
It’s already connected to her hotmail account.
I will experiment with mine (W7) or does it only apply to Win 8.
Dave where do you get that upgrade now.
Richard I use text to voice and Win 10 has 4 different voices where W7 only has 1.
March 5, 2017 at 12:00 pm #4817John, I was only saying that in my book voice to text is assistive so another reason to claim the option when updating and that anyone might find a need to use it sometime. I feel it is a very useful feature. Glad you have already found it and made use of it. I do not use the read back function so I had not found the need for a different voice but the one I encountered by accident was ‘not my cup of tea’ so thank you, it is useful to know that choices exist.

March 5, 2017 at 2:57 pm #4822I bet most of you, especially with higher res monitors, use a higher dpi setting to. My wife does, even on low res. I can read her kindle for a 1000 paces.
I only use/d the higher dpi setting when we had the media pc in the lounge.
The ms text reader is awful, I’m sure everyone had accidentally activated that on log on at least once.
On chrome os it’s worse, as you have no idea how you turned it on, so takes 20 mins to figure out how to turn it off, at least on Windows it’s obvious.
I’m sure spell check is classed as an, and assisted tech. It assists me in word not days. Well that’s a bit of a porkie as I mainly use Google docs and save as word compatible. I suppose that is an assisted tech though. I’m stretching now.
I do have an MS keyboard or 3 actually, plus over the years they have taken 100s if not 1000s in OS and office payments, so just by using the assisted os update, it is assisting my disabled wallet which ms took part in crippling.
Really stretching now, but I don’t think ms really care tbh. Of they did it wouldn’t be so easy.

At this point they just want to move everyone to 10, and this is an easy cop out without admitting that no one will pay retail prices :good:

Duke that’s the bigger problem here, more than 20 mins needed.
