It has been reported widely that KB4494441 (Cumulative Update) leaves the version at 17763.475 ie it has not updated correctly. After the update it would be wise to check the version using Run/Winver. If the version has not changed try a repeat of Windows Update. On my machine it redownloaded this update and re-installed it. The version then changed to 17763.503. Strange as looking at the Update record it shows this update as being successful on both occasions.

17763.503 was released yesterday as a separate cumulative update.

My rig (already running 17763.475) installed it last night.

My laptop however (which was still on 17763.437) still shows that same version, even though KB4494441 has just installed correctly and shows as such. Weird !

Yes but you need to install it twice. It seems that this update depends on a .net update which needs to be installed first ie on the first run.

There is yet another one today! That makes it a sort of never ending monthly round up.

17763.504 updated properly this time – so they’ve fixed the “double install” problem. ?

Apparently this was the prime idea for UK based users:

                    Version:
                    OS Build 17763.504

                    Improvements and fixes

This update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:

Addresses an issue that may prevent access to some gov.uk websites that don’t support HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) when using Internet Explorer 11 or Microsoft Edge.
If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

                    End quote

The above may well be a fair synopsis as it only took a  very few moments to crawl through what it was doing, the reboot took longer than the ‘install’. As I rarely use IE or Edge I would possibly not have seen those ‘UK.GOV’ issues!
