I guess Rishi Sunak caught the mendacious bug from BoJo.
Just like BoJo, Rishi has been caught out lieing to make himself more popular by pretending that he is a man of the people, and that he and his family regularly visit McDonalds.
“Sunak explained that it had been about 7.30am, and so he ate a bacon roll with ketchup and pancakes.
“If I’m with my daughters then we get the wrap,” the Conservative leadership hopeful continued. “My eldest daughter – if I’m with her, it’s the wrap with hash browns and everything in it. It’s what we do.””
Unfortunately, just like BoJo, his lies do not pass the veracity test. McDonalds stopped selling Breakfast wraps in March 2020!!
As usual it was up to the PR team to try and rescue the situation!
First prize to anyone who can point out a recent blatantly obvious Liz Truss or Keir Stamer lie.
August 18, 2022 at 6:00 pm #69870I’m not surprised anymore.
I have no trust in politicians.
August 18, 2022 at 6:07 pm #69871It appears he said ‘My eldest daughter – if I’m with her, it’s the wrap’, note not ‘Breakfast wrap’ he then listed sides. McDonald’s listed a number of wraps when I search, most of which I would not touch with a barge pole, they are said to be spiced up things which I do not eat.
August 29, 2022 at 11:02 am #69881The biggest lier in history won three elections in a row so it must be good for something.
Tony blah just couldn’t help himself though, even when the truth was good enough he had to slip in a litte lie. I think he just got a kick out of misleading the public and getting away with it.
August 29, 2022 at 7:33 pm #69883I guess I could partially answer my own question in that many politicians, such as that master of dissembling TBLiar, first train as lawyers. It should not be forgotten that criminal defence lawyers basically have to bend the truth and omit opposing facts in order to present the best case for their client even if they suspect the guilt of their client..
Perhaps one could, or should object that prosecuting lawyers are an exception, to which I would respond how often does such a lawyer point out any mitigating facts. For example in DNA cases of (say) ten million to one against something happening prosecuting lawyers never point out that you could expect six+ people in the UK to fit the bill. The prosecution would expect the defending lawyers to raise that particular objection.
In other words, dissembling and misleading are an inherent part of their training that they never manage to put on one side. Perhaps that is a good argument for saying that people with law degrees should be barred from ever standing for parliament!
September 1, 2022 at 2:55 pm #69888No, they just lie. It’s inherent in the process. But at least in the past when caught out they looked a bit sheepish, this lot just double down.
Our first WECA “Metro” Mayor got a big boost by saying he could fix a NIMBY issue in favour of the NIMBYs. When in office he admitted that it wasn’t actually in his gift to do so. He didn’t even bother trying for a second term.
Liz Truss will U Turn, probably pretty quickly, on what she’s been saying to get herself elected. She may be the favourite of the <1% of the country that put her there, but she’s not got the MPs behind her and is about to send a lot of the powerful ones to the back benches. I am fully expecting Poll Tax style riots by the New Year if the fuel bills aren’t sorted out.
But where the hell are Labour?
September 2, 2022 at 7:57 am #69893Unfortunately Labour have Keir Starmer as leader instead of Andy Burnham.
