Hi all – the above really sums it up 100%.

I have an elderly uncle who is currently writing his memoirs of his younger days – in Welsh!!  He sends up his ‘rough’ drafts and we correct as best as we can.  Most times my Word document looks like a slaughter house with all the red lines etc.  I remembered in the ‘olde days’ it was possible to change the default keyboard in Word from English to Welsh and that would not affect other Word docs.  I can’t find that option in Office 2010.

So I decided to explore – not really certain what I have done BUT NOW when I open the ‘Properties’ option in any file – text, image etc the date of creation, modification etc are in Welsh – not really what I want and I can’t seem to find a way out of it. Afaik I have not installed the Welsh language option pack.

Has anyone any ideas please?

Hard to say what has gone wrong. Normally you just change the setting in Windows Control Panel ‘Region’, and if you have two languages you can select the working/default language in the RHS of the Task Bar.

I have now managed to solve it – using your suggestion – though I did this before posting the topic as it kept on defaulting to Welsh – seems OK now though.  I suspect I failed to ‘Apply’ it!! Many thanks.

Anyone any ideas as to how to enlarge the ‘Character Map’ window without having to go to the magnifier option which seems to magnify everything.

Not tried it but CTRL+ might work. Failing that Windows 10 allows you to change the way text appears on the screen. Settings->Ease of Access->Display Use the ‘Make Everything Bigger’ option (as the Art Mistress said to the Gardener)

I am also a neanderthal Dwynne! And hairy enough all over (excepting the head) to prove it. I love picking up Flints on local beaches, wondering which ancestor was making hand tools a few thousand years ago.? ? ?
