-Here, that is. We had a short and light fall this morning before noon, which became heavier. OK, I thought, we are going to be able to talk how deep it was along with the rest of the country. Then it turned to rain, the temperature zoomed up to 2ºC and it settled into a cold, wet day. That’s turned into a cold night without rain. Or snow. I know the rest of the country, partcularly Wales and the West, have had it really bad, but to the South of us in Norfolk, Canbridgeshire and Hertfordshire, they also have big falls. It seems that the East Lindsey micro-climate is working well. This can work in an opposite direction sometimes, as in 2009/10, when we had snow from November to March and again in April, all the way from Siberia.

How has everyone else had it? This pic is from Brecon, Wales, courtesy of the BBC: a mobile home in Brecon, in December? Look at the name on the side of the van!

We had amber warnings yesterday for today. Then about at 10 last night it went to yellow with snow forecast from 6 am. In the end we had a slight dusting at about 2 pm for an hour and well that’s all she wrote. I was somewhat peed off, I was look forward to a pleasant snowy chilled day but it’s just dark and soggy now with a hint of miserable.

As usual on a Sunday mum picked me up (a few beers in the legion so no driving) and said she wasn’t going back the way she had come due to flooding.

That means going up a steep hill that once past the crest has 2 dips, each about 18 foot deep. Got to dip number one and there was bedlam. Water about 2 foot deep in it. People acting like idiots and trying to force each other out of the way to turn around.

Luckily I know the road very well, last year I transferred some supplies on my Fat Bike across the same area.

Told mum to just stick it in 2nd, not slip the clutch and keep the revs about 3k. Job done. Just. I actually got in the back and had the window down warning people that were heading towards the flood to turn around. One arrogant f**k wit in a BMZ Z4 told me to mind my own business. ?

Otherwise it’s been snow/rain/sleet. Got woken up about 4.30 am by a noise I’d never heard before so went investigating. Turned out it was the rain bouncing of my car, must be 30m or more from the bedroom .

Yes we had about 6 inches or so this morning. It is still cool with the temperature somewhere less than 1 degree C. I cleared the pile of snow in front of the car as I was afraid it could freeze overnight. That could make moving the car in the morning a challenge. So far the temperature is holding, but later tonight I understand it could fall below zero. There is very little margin at the moment. We need to be mobile with food to fetch and appointments to attend on Monday morning.

Have about a foot here, all the main roads are fine, but our lanes wasn’t fun on the last 20mins of my drive. Usually a five min drive.

Hours of snow but unfortunately it was after hours of rain so the only place it pitched was on the car. Which has now frozen solid.

It’s due to get colder after sunrise tomorrow!

Heard from Bangor it had snowed a lot on Friday and today but it didn’t pitch much. Daughters friend is from Singapore, it’s the first snow she’s ever experienced.

We had it all day I don’t think it stopped yet.  It’s a single track road out here, going round a green. You couldn’t see the road as it blended in with the green. Nobody has been in a car today, I had to make my own tracks guessing where the road was. While I was out I popped to moms, there was cars slipping everywhere (by moms) so I went back home.

When I came back I got stuck round the green, I did manage to spin out.

The second time I couldn’t spin out, she had to dig me out.

The third time I had no trouble, but then decided best to stop in and forget about the snow.

I might get CCTV one day to check if it’s still snowing.

I did try and look on google earth but it aint that good.

Forcast to stop later tonight, no snow tomorrow, sunny 0° ? feels like -6° Tue no snow Sunny 3° ? feels like 0° Wed Rain 4° ☂ feels like 1° hopefully the snow will go? ?

                    Cheers

We had a good few inches here (Ooh matron! ? ) so we took Alice out for her first proper snow day. Pretty much mummified her, then plonked her in the snow. It came almost to her knees, and she couldn’t move. She stood there for a few minutes trying to figure out what we were supposed to be doing ?

Built a snowman and took about a billion photos, then came in to play in the warm. Packed Alice off to bed, and sat down to watch a film. All is good in the world* ?

Corrected – Singapore is a retail wonderland and spends a fortune on Christmas attractions – dancing in the snow is almost passé. Link

Well at 2.2C this morning with pelting rain I don’t think the ice holds too many risks for us today. There is still some mush holding out, but I cannot imagine it is long for this land. My efforts at car and path clearing yesterday may not have been needed but no regrets, mobility should be achieved today. Mild excitement can give way to another cold wet day.

We are at minus 2 and we on the protected side of the mountain facing the sea. Over the top side it will be minus 5 of lower.

Given there was a good foot of the white stiff last night at 8pm, it’s gonna be a crunchy mess up there.

Most of the sea side collegs are open, though the campus’s just inland (higher altitude) are all shut.

The outlier is the higher high-school that is in a fine non snowy location, decided on Friday that they was having Mon and Tues off!

The jnr school has an app to keep parents informed and as of last night, the news was keep an eye on the app. At 7am this morning they gave the all clear. My 9yo wanted to spend the day over the mountain playing. She wasn’t happy when she was she left 5 mine ago.

So now we have decided on Saturday or Sunday, we’re heading onto snowdonia on search of some proper snow. It’s not going to melt up there, and will keep getting deeper thought the week.

I hate the show to, so it’s gonna be a grand day indeed.

What is this “snow” you speak of? Apart from some slippy on the pavement early morning, I’ve seen diddly squat in Warrington.

Arch Linux, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, 32 GB, 5 (yes -5) HDs inc 5 SSDs, 4 RPi 3Bs + 1 RPi 4B - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, 2 x NV GTX 1070 8GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.

Well we have no snow or rain but it is going to be very frosty tonight here, according to the national forecast. The local Lincolnshire forecast corrected that by showing the coastal strip at 1ºC, the Met Office report for Louth supported that: as usual being near the Sea is a bonus at times like these.

Whatever the weather, both SWMBO and I are down with a ferocious bug: hacking cough, sore throats, noses and eyes running, I cannot sleep as my scarred pleural cavity has woken up and started clogging the pipes, so lying down prevents breathing. The reclining settee was my bed last night, with the spare bed duvet. There are lots of “TV Shopping” channels through the night….

We managed to shop locally for food (and tissues!) but I have to go up to Grimsby tomorrow, to find and buy a replacement control knob and switch for the cooker’s front left hotplate.

D-dan, it’s all the chemicals on the air keeping it away. I spent the weekend in Widnes, and apart from a couple of flurries, they had little also.

Bob- just give her a set of plyers, she’ll be fine.

Well the local Weatherman was wrong yesterday: there was a very hard frost last night which has persisted throughout the day, but no snow in our village. 2 miles down the road, Louth had a dusting. I will watch local BBC news tonight, there are always idiots sending in emails and tweets when he is wrong. I mean, the guy has an ‘ology, FFS!

FYI Steve and Dave, SWMBO can handle pliers well, also other tools. Her dad was a Station Master who used to take her around engine sheds at weekends, she would wind up working with the engineers. She is the Tomboy of 3 girls, I think she horrified her sisters. (Still does) She built walls with my FIL around their bungalow when she was 13. Marrying an engineer and workshop foreman suited her, as she didn’t mind me coming home stinking of oil. In fact I think she misses it, but I’m not going to ask…

Just had torrential rain followed by 3 claps of thunder that shook the house. Lighting swiftly after and then hail that set off all the car alarms. Now it’s just drizzling and windy.

Quiet and calm here, been drizzling all afternoon and evening, after a morning of sunshine. Frost beginning to form on cars.

Just drove he from the game, and the snow had started and was getting heavier the closer i got to home. But as usual once I got over the hill, on our side (sea facing) we had non.

Promised my youngest I’d take her and a friend to find real snow at the weekend. So a trip into snowdonia beckons. Though I forgot at the time that I’m having an op on Friday at the local hospital to have all my 4 wisdom teeth out. So I ain’t gonna be a happy dad on Saturday.  I’ll just sit with my head in the snow.
