Is this usual – just loaded W10 onto a PC via the MC Tool – all works OK and far easier than expected.

HOWEVER – when I select “Power Off” option – it goes ‘off’ but if I touch the case  or in any way vibrate the case and contents – it restarts.

Is it meant to do this?

      Thanks,  Dave

Have you checked your reset jumper pins, sound like a short. Maybe. Or the reset button may be a bit broke.

Try unplugging them that will rule out the switch. Then place a bit of card between the +&- on the pins themself to isolate them.

        Or

When you touch the case, could it moving the mouse? If so it may be just in Sleep mode.

You could try unplugging the mouse, then give the pc case a nudge.

Thanks Duke, I certainly select the Power Off option in the ‘start’ menu – will check the rest of your suggestions tomorrow.

          Will update.

It’s a hardware problem for sure. Somehow you are shorting the power switch lead. I’d suspect the switch itself.

One trick I do in this situation is wire the power switch lead to the reset button – just move the socket at the motherboard end.

I have a similar annoying issue in that my i3 rig with an Asus mobo keeps waking itself up. It’s in my sons bedroom I now use as an office (he’s at Uni) so user intervention is definitely not an issue.

My work pc has had the power and reset wired the wrong way for the best part of 5 years. I must of been tired when I built it, and just cba to swap it around. Even for my eyes, then tiny connectors and writing is a chore when the mobo and gpu are  plumbed in.

I’d actually forgot I’m that use to it. Tbh it’s probably been a year since I’ve turned it off. Maybe longer! Probably when I moved from 7 to 10, so it could be two years. You don’t notice how solid 10 is untill you think about it. Unlike all windows before it (never used 8) it just works.
