My son wanted an office/computer chair, so I ordered him ONE for Chrimbo. Two big boxes arrived, I thought that will be one for the Big Bits and one for the Small Bits, although the boxes are the same size. I have waited until today to open the boxes and set up A chair.
There are TWO complete chairs! Immediately checked Order in Emails, delivery note and bank. PayPal and bank have only charged for one, there is only one listed on the Email Order, delivery order and the website, as ordered under My Account. Checked the address labels on the boxes: both are addressed to me.
Happy Christmas, Bob! Now to see who in the family
wantsneeds a computer chair! Not saying where from, except not Amazon and not Fleabay, it’s a new online store to me. Delivered by that company whose name begins with a ‘Y’. All I know is that I know have to build two chairs instead of one. And this at the same time that (A) our new furniture came and (B) our lad took away the old settee, for granddaughter’s new home, using his works LWB van. During all this activity, a guy from a computer club came to fetch a load of old PC bits I Freecycled. He must have thought this was a madhouse, had to park down the road. Curtains twitching over the road for about 3 hours today. Nosey buggas!Does anyone think I would report/return this? Well I won’t do that: the boxes have been here unopened from over a week ago. By now another customer will have complained if I have his order, and will have either been recompensed or had another one sent. Unless they have a warehouse full of Santas, busily sending out two -for-ones. Ho Ho Ho! Now I am officially out of Bah Humbug mode.😊
EDIT: Just noticed that one box was despatched on December 5th and the other on Dec. 6th. Consignee number and Sender Reference numbers, different on each box. I have removed the labels in one piece and stuck to an A4 sheet, filed it. Boxes will be recycled. I needed a magnifier to see those numbers.

I'm out.December 20, 2019 at 2:16 pm #39024We had all this many moons ago wrt an iPad iirc, Dwynnehugh will give you all the legal ins and outs but your best bet is to contact the seller tell them you have it, and ask them what they want to do with it. My guess is that freight on an office chair is going to be close to their cost for the chair so they may make you an offer.
December 20, 2019 at 2:33 pm #39026And sorry Bob my views haven’t changed.
Tell them!
From Cit Advice page:
The answer is yes and no, according to Citizens Advice.
Items that firms send to you, but you didn’t actually order are called “unsolicited goods”. You’re well within your rights to keep them.
You have no obligation to send them back to the company or to pay for them. If a company demands payment, that’s a criminal offence.
But this doesn’t apply to items sent to you by mistake (as happened to Robert); if the order was sent to you twice; or if there’s extra stuff on top of what you ordered.
If a firm has left goods with you that weren’t unsolicited goods, they still belong to the trader and you should try to give them back.
Firms can take you to court to recover their goods.
That happened last Christmas when online retailer Zavvi sent customers games consoles worth £170, instead of games that cost £20.
So if they were sent by mistake what do I do?
If items are sent to you by mistake, you will need to contact whoever sent them and ask them to collect the goods. That shouldn’t cost you anything or inconvenience you in any way. You should also give the company a reasonable deadline to collect the items.

December 20, 2019 at 7:02 pm #39034Thank you Dwynne, I appreciate your advice, but I am not contacting the seller and not sending the other item back. Completely understand what you say, just not complying with the advice.
I have asked an ex-delivery driver and a local solicitor about this.
Delivery driver’s experience of the same issue on several occasions, is that the selling company does not chase up the customer, unless the item(s) were very expensive, or as in the case of Zavvi, many examples of the same item, were involved. Not exactly legal advice, but useful. Apparently the extra work involved in admin and picking up the item, has to be considered. The guy involved was delivering nationally for almost 5 years and says that this was obviously a warehouse mistake, of which he experienced more than a few.
Solicitor was speaking off the record as a friend, after researching cases. His advice was that I should be prepared to pay for the second item at the price of the first, IF the company contacts me. I am quite prepared to do that, I have already promised the second one to another family member. He also reinforced the D.driver’s words, that it was a warehouse mistake and would stand every chance of not being spotted, because the delivery note states “One Item.” The driver who delivered the two boxes at my house, was in a rush as they are at this time, and did not ask for a signature, did not scan the barcodes. If I thought for one moment that the driver who delivered the 2 boxes would be liable to any trouble, I would definitely tell the company. My friend the ex-driver has told me about the conditions they work under.
So basically, if they want me to pay for the second chair, I will. If I never hear from them again, that’s an extra present for a family member.

December 21, 2019 at 4:58 pm #39056Both chairs gone to their intended recipients. Quick and easy builds in both cases and the finished chairs are very good items and good VFM at £63 (for one).
