I put my burka on. It’s great. The whole family shares the one pp.
Funny enough I have my mum and dads pp (a single pp for both) from the early 80s and I’m on it to, but it’s just my name written on in ink. I think you just added your one babys name back then .
So back them you could take any baby on any pp. A bit like my berka pp I have now.
Why don’t we have a berka emoji? I’m gonna find someone to complain to. Lol.
I renewed 7 last 2 years ago. It was a fortune! Good news last night I stated booking our summer adventure. 24 days touring France and Spain. All booked via apps on my phone. Villas and apartments right through, total cost including fuel and ferry £1300. Bargain. Just shy of 3200 miles driving, avoiding the french tolls (super expensive and boring) zig zag down the trunk roads and countryside. Gonna be ace. And for the first time just 4 of us.
I wanted to take the dogs, but the witch wouldn’t have it.
February 22, 2018 at 7:03 pm #17042“There are reflections in your photo.” Spectacles? Best not to wear them as even ‘non-reflective’ lenses often cause issues. Jewellery is often the other problem area for females as the digital pic includes the upper quarter of the body.
No Ed, it was a shiny forehead! Missus usually has a good complexion, but since the HipOp and not going out, has become pale. Today we returned to the shop, got a free photo with a little make up on her dome and I now will apply again.
Steve I look forward to seeing you minus burkha, on BBC News, being held as a terrorist. ???
Can’t wait!
Freedom for the Liverpool One! I’ll start a protest movement.

I'm out.February 22, 2018 at 7:40 pm #17043It kept telling me it couldn’t find the outline of my head, brush your hair back.
I have no hair, ? I tried other photos. In the end I stated on the application, I was bald.
They must have accepted it in the end.
Cheers
JohnFebruary 23, 2018 at 7:16 pm #17058I was told (as in previous post)
I don’t need countersignature, I was to send 2 photos (no sig on back required). Put a letter in explaining, with my application ref number. Send to the Liverpool office and I should then be issued with the passport.
So I did this and was awaiting another passport.
Today I had a phone call off HMPO, some of the above information is incorrect.
It should have gone to Durham with the application form I first had on re applying. However I don’t need it countersigning.
Advice – don’t make an error on your new passport, it’s a nightmare.
But then maybe it’s just me and advice is not needed.
Cheers
JohnFebruary 23, 2018 at 9:08 pm #17064Well another try at another photo of my dear old lass and the same result, “too shiny, white areas.”
Better get her under a sunlamp I think. Or ask David Davis what he uses on his face.
We is fed up now.

I'm out.February 24, 2018 at 7:29 am #17069Use a camera shop that understands lighting and exposure! This sounds like schoolboy errors on the behalf of the photographer.
February 24, 2018 at 7:50 am #17070Mine kept saying it couldn’t see the outline of my head (Bald)
In the end I submitted stateing on the application of the problem, no quible and I recieved my passport.
Cheers
JohnFebruary 24, 2018 at 2:37 pm #17077Ed, I was at a Kodak place with all the latest technology. Mine was fine, accepted by the P Office, but 2 photos now of SWMBO not accepted. I have contacted a local studio which took my 70th birthday pic’s of the whole family, they do it every Monday, just one day when they do passport photos only. Unfortunately I am going into Castle Hill Hospital (near Hull) tomorrow and having a procedure to check out my pancreas on Monday, so SWMBO will have to wait if a family member cannot take her.
The effect of all this upon my peace of mind from the Distaff side, is frankly unbearable.?? I am ready for a night in a quiet hospital ward.??

I'm out.February 24, 2018 at 2:48 pm #17079Good luck – I’m afraid Kodak lost its photographic expertise when it gave up making film. They are now in the Bit-Coin business – nuff said!
February 25, 2018 at 11:48 pm #17130Tamara obtained her Brit citizenship last year and now expects her first Passport to arrive any day now. She wants to visit a half sister she has never met and who lives in the US. I am afraid she can go THERE on her own. The passport application is different over here on Isle of Man. Drive into Douglas and get forms and ask any questions first. (You can download and print your own forms if you want to save the trip). I told her to get the photo done at a specific photographers, a three generation place where they know what they are doing. Tamara said a photo booth would be OK, but I told her in no uncertain terms NO! Anyway, she was in Douglas, but instead of going where I said, she went into Boots, found they have a proper setup, so she had then done there. With everything filled in, off to our local post office where we know the postmistress quite well. She looked at the forms and pointed out Tamara had used blue biro, NOT black, so home and do another set. Photo countersigned, and off to PP office next day, where one lady did a bit of pre-checking as the one finishing off had a queue. Everything seemed OK until she got to the photo. She disappeared returning with a special rule, carefully measuring head size etc., and continually “feeling” the surface of the photo. Where did you get it she asked? Boots said Tamara, and I added that I had told her to go up to John Morrison’s. More examination, and confer with the counter, and it was deemed (just) satisfactory. Everything went thro OK after that, and the letter arrived saying it will arrive by post from the UK within 5 days.

February 26, 2018 at 7:39 am #17134Thats one nice aspect about the digital photo option for renewal, you need do nothing about positioning the image of the head. If your photo is acceptable in terms of resolution and exposure the site’s software will crop and centre your head and shoulders photo to conform with the HMPO rules.
You do however have to note that the digital photo must be an unaltered original, no photoshopping, cropping etc is allowed.
February 26, 2018 at 12:23 pm #17136That’s interesting ed, as i always took the kids photos myself when they was young (a con at £50 for five years pp), photo shopped them into shape then them shnkk the pic to whatever the pp dimensions are print at 100% .
Though as i sent in physical photos and not not on line, they have always passed.y kids are all big enough to get them done in the shop now. Though the kodak shop is gone from town, so i wouldn’t know where to get one done, so would have to use a booth. So to save time and money would probably still just do it for them.
Although I’ll only have to get my now 9 year olds one, as the rest are old enough to pay for their own.
This morning i dropped my eldest off at manchester airport, for a week on Egypt. Could do with some of that sun atm.
February 26, 2018 at 5:34 pm #17141Whilst I have been occupied being internally video’d, inspected , scraped, cut and sliced at Castle Hill Hospital yesterday and today, senior gdaughter has stayed overnight with grandma. This morming she took grandma to the studio I mentioned before, an independent but professional photographer. Coded pic was sent to SWMBO’s email and I will process her application tomorrow on her lappy, after YAHA (Yet Another Hospital Apointment) – SWMBO at Grimsby Hospital this time, to check out progress of the HipOp.
I have seen the photo this guy took on her lappy and compared it with the one taken at the Kodak shop which the Passport Office decided was ‘too white, with shiny areas and reflections’. Seeing the pics together, it’s obvious. The new one looks like SWMBO actually has a complexion, instead of looking as if she has never seen the sun in her life. Lesson learned. He also charged only £5, whereas the Kodak shop charged £8. I will be looking to get that back.

I'm out.February 27, 2018 at 5:32 pm #17156SWMBO’s passport online renewal done, easy-peasy. It’s still a Beta service, but (providing you use the right photo) it’s very efficient an easy to use. I gave them feedback to state that, with a word about advising customers to ensure they use the right photo service. Now if I get the ‘right’ medical diagnostic results and non-complex surgery, we are off on a river cruise somewhere. I fancy Russia, which horrifies SWMBO….
