Page 9 of the manual John gave as a link has a diagram that implies that external speakers can be connected to what looks like an RCA coupling. Still as I said, I’m not 100% sure so maybe more eyes could confirm or deny what I thought.
Page 22 of the same manual states the following which leads me to believe that the TV has the quite common pass-through function for the RCA connection:
“Ext Out
Press ” ” or ” ” button to select Ext Out. Use ” ” or
” ” button to set the Ext Out as On or Off.
Note :
For copying from a DVD or VCR device, you should
choose desired source from source menu and turn
“On” to EXT Out from feature menu.
Ext Out should be On“
February 5, 2017 at 5:59 pm #3392If the RCAs are outputs there will probably just be red and white for stereo audio – if there is a third (yellow) RCA then it is almost certainly an AV input. )If there’s 5 – red/white/red/green/blue – then it is a component audio input. Very difficult to say without trial and error – if I’m reading John’s post right then that link is for “a” 32″ tesco tv not necessarily his one.
Another thing is that many TVs offer audio out via the scart (in fact audio and video out) – but often restricted to the TV freeview tuner (copy protection I’m guessing) – but if that is all you want (i.e. not Sky or DVD etc) then something like this might help
A photo of the interconnects on the back of the telly would be helpful – otherwise I think it is a case of trial and error. God news is all the bits and pieces to test it are very cheap if you haven’t got any to hand.
February 5, 2017 at 8:54 pm #3404John there must be a Model Number on the rear of the TV, can you find it? Might be able to source the correct manual and therefore the correct Ports.
Damn, I just reread your post about not seeing the Model No. Sorry!

Thanks for the link doctoryorkie at that price I purchased one and will see if in/out
Thanks blacklion
My experience the sound doesn’t work without the picture (Composite)on RCA
it is the Tesco 32″ Tecnika
My old sky box had RCA and I could go that way, but the sky now has optical.I have loads of scart to RCA I only have one scart and it used for the DVD player, I am after RCA
to use and not to need un-pluging the DVD.Yes Bob the number has wore away.
I tried to take a picture of the ports (to dark) I will try again in the light of day. The sockets are underneath the back not on the side or back
It has 3 socket White Red Yellow and another 3 White Red Blue.
Picture of the back shows paint, it’s not paint I don’t know what it is. I clean it off and it comes back So it’s something out the TV?

Do not forget to use the EXT switch

Forumite Points: 0page 22 shows a Feature Menu, there is no Feature on my TV and no EXT
I think the TV I have is a one off, I can’t find any match on internet. I am led to believe
it’s a 209 not 209vI have searched the internet & ebay Amazon. On ebay it shows replacement remotes. Not one
matches my remote. I found a matching remote on Amazon but it’s for another modelMine is a 32″ So I searched your user guide link for a user guide
I will read it laters, however that’s a 40″ mine is a 32″ yet it has the same remote, others don’t.
Edit:
It does have a Feature but the list is not the same.
February 6, 2017 at 10:24 am #3433John, would something like this work? http://amzn.to/2kcGUFM Then either straight to headphones or to your aux stereo via a 3.5 male to male lead?

That looks a good one if the one I ordered (doc suggested above) doesn’t work I will try that. I am using the scart but I remembered I have a scart splitter I can use.
February 6, 2017 at 9:08 pm #3455I recall that my 9 year old Panasonic 32″ HDTV had zillions of out- and inputs, including RCA stereo. I plugged in my Hitach HFi with the red and white RCA leads and boosted the weedy TV sound from 20W per channel to 50. Did that without telling SWMBO and almost blew her ears off when I switched to “Aux”. Had to cook me own tea that evening…
We make our own fun. :yahoo:

Forumite Points: 0February 7, 2017 at 12:49 pm #3471I really do doubt that you will get any media OUT of the USB port.
If you are just plugging a headphone into the rca or scart port you should not need an amplifier (Hifi)

Forumite Points: 0Ed hang on, I am not trying to get media out USB, I asked if the USB would power a converter
Using any type of scart (to headphone – HiFi etc) out the TV doesn’t work. This means the scart on the TV is input only hence my DVD works on the scart channel of the TV.
I had best save up for a 240v powered converter I was just trying to save on electric.
Links are just for example.
February 8, 2017 at 5:33 am #3488John I think any devices like that will run off a TV USB port – even a low powered one. If you are buying from Amazon then if it won’t you can either return or just plug the USB charging cable in to a mains/usb adapter rather than the TV. There’s loads of these adapters (example) – and if you end up needing a mains adapter you may already have one (many phone chargers are a plug with a separate USB cable) but if not very cheap (examples) – but chances are your telly USB port will handle it fine.

I have a 240v USB phone charger, didn’t know it was the same rating.
I will purchase a USB converter.
February 8, 2017 at 9:52 am #3492John, Cheapest I could find:
You will need a coaxial cable if you don’t have optical out on your TV.
Laptop T420 i5 8GB SSD 2x Spinners Optimus GFX
HTPC 5350 8GB SSD 2x Spinners Antec 300
Desktop 2700K 16GB Revo x2 GTX570SC Antec900
Server N54L 8GB SSD 6x Spinners HD6450February 8, 2017 at 6:24 pm #3504Ext out on some TV sets is not on a menu, but instead requires that you flip a small switch at the back (reason is that normally EXT is used to pipe in from a DVD etc.)

Forumite Points: 0Thanks Doc I will get one of those, I have an Optical so that’s a supa find.
Thanks Ed I haven’t seen a small switch, not to say there isn’t one. I will give a good
probe. Not at the moment, as I can’t bend down.February 9, 2017 at 12:09 pm #3513Thanks Doc I will get one of those, I have an Optical so that’s a supa find. Thanks Ed I haven’t seen a small switch, not to say there isn’t one. I will give a good probe. Not at the moment, as I can’t bend down.
I know that problem well John!
You will be better off with an optical connection anyway: sometimes other connections give audio/video sync problems. Lips are saying one thing, speech is saying something else. That’s what I found with HDMI to my sound bar, I bought a Toslink cable and cured it. :yahoo:

Good thinking as syncing can be evil.
February 10, 2017 at 7:54 am #3545I’ve spoke in another thread, how I’ve circumvented the need for bending on 2 of my rigs. With the use of USB hubs, and on/off/reset button hot glues to the under side of my desk, to the side of my seating position.
When you have a ‘dickie’ back, you second guess every footstep, lift, and twist.
