This is an old LCD TV 40″ from tesco’s in 2012 that I use in my bedroom. It’s always been temperamental and overheating and it’s a common problem with these. The simple fix is to buy a secondhand power board from ebay for 25 quid. How ever I decided to replace 4 caps on the power board instead, a few pence a piece and now it works perfect again. How ever the point of the post is to show how little you get in the TV. 🙂 Also in the picture you can see that when it was made some one left a plug cover in there.

I did the same sort of thing with my old HP laser printer, that had a couple of obscure capacitors that gave up on life from time to time, but I gave up on the machine in the end. It was satisfying to do the work and return it to service. Its replacement was faster but no obsolete and I have another laser upstairs and that is fastest of all though my printing needs are now greatly reduced.
