I need to clone a 240GB SSD onto a new 1TB SSD and in doing so MAKING certain that NOTHING is lost or bu**er*d up in the transition, I also need to ensure that the new 1TB SSD can be seen in full and the full capacity useable (if there is such a word?).  Any suggestions please?  Not into GParted!  Many thanks in anticipation,  Dave

I am about to do something similar starting Monday. (hopefully, if I get a day-release from SWMBO) In my case, it’s a transfer of my Win7 64 HP system from a 1TB Spinner, to a 480 GB SSD. I have the SSD set up in an enclosure and my desktop has recognised it. I have a Macrium Reflect Trial copy and will buy the Pro version before the trial period runs out. I can clone or image to my Zyxel NSA 310 NAS and I also have an external 3.5″ case with a new  2TB spinner that is destined for backups to backups.

I will watch this topic with interest guys, but please deal with Dwynne’s problem first, I have hijacked his Thread, sorry Dwynne!

If it’s one of your Windows 7 MBR drives then I’d say any of the cloners would do the job. I’d use Easeus ToDo Backup Free, but make sure you download it from the UK site https://uk.easeus.com/download/tbf-download.html

Yep I agree with Dave’s recommendation – have used it for W7 and W10 without issue. The 1TB drive may also come with cloning software – worth a look – but Easeus is my default these days.

I always prefere do do  a clean install.

I also use many patirions so all the stuff I need is safe.

I use 50GB for windows. 20GB for programs. I then have a: game, music, film, photo and office partiton.

My new 1TB KC400 boots me log in from push button in summat daft like under 20 seconds. The login screen is a bit of a distraction from M$. if boot was to desk top then it would take a while longer.

              keeping me in full control.

If you want to do it for free, and don’t mind dipping into the command line. rsync from a Linux live CD will do it just peachy.

Arch Linux, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, 32 GB, 5 (yes -5) HDs inc 5 SSDs, 4 RPi 3Bs + 1 RPi 4B - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, 2 x NV GTX 1070 8GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.
