Recently, my thunderbird display changed, with the messages at the top and and the currently open message at the bottom to full pages of messages only. I spent some time trying to find an answer, which in due course I did. Unfortunately, somewhere along the line, I lost the “three little bars”, top RHS giving access to preferences.

So, I can no longer click “Get Messages”, Write message”, “address book” etc.

I renamed my .thunderbird (Linux remember) and reinstituted the original . thunderbird. Searched out other thunderbird files (in .cache I think), and then, via package manager, uninstalled, then reinstalled thunderbird.

After opening and closing, I replaced .thunderbird with my correct one, and reopened. Still the same. I assume that means the settings reside within .thunderbird.

Any ideas how I recover those three little bars?

      Les.

If you’ve got the tab view, right click a blank space underneath the Mozilla Thunderbird header, and to the right of the tabs, and you should see the option to add the menu bar, mail toolbar (looks like the one you want), and folder pane toolbar.

Good man, spot on. I think I left and right clicked everywhere, but I missed that. Back to sanity again. Cheers, Les.

No worries. I’m just glad I got the right OS this time 😀
