The C4oD FAQ’s say I-O-M is OK.
November 6, 2019 at 5:50 pm #38044Dave, I searched the FAQs, but could not find that, but if you did, that should be OK. On that basis I sent a question to CH4OD, and await an answer.
Meanwhile, I guess I should go to the laptop and update FF, before stopping it (auto) updating.

November 12, 2019 at 8:22 pm #38206I asked “ALL4” why I could not get it on my tablet, and likewise on my main Linux PC.They asked for more info, so here is my reply, and their response to it:-
One device I was trying to use was a tablet.:–
A “no-name” tablet, but info from the “Settings” yields the following:-
Quad-core. A64bf1078
Android 5.1.1
Firmware v1.2
Kernal version 3.10.65
wyl@wylyones#5
Build No. Tulip_bf1078-eng 5.1.1
LVY48E 20160401 test keys
When I search with the browser, I get a choice of “Watch in the App”, and “Download the browser”
Selecting the first one then asks me “Did you mean p-name:com.ch4 on demand – but it does nothing else.
Selecting the second yields the message “Not available in your location”
I also have a Linux (Mint 19.2) 64 bit install, my main computer which is kept fully updated. :-
If I go to the All 4 website, click “Watch live”, then select Ch 4 (Junior bake off at this moment) I get a display with “Use adobe flash”
I select this, then “Allow Adobe Flash”
Next I am asked for my log in details. These are accepted, and I see the beginning programme intro. However, there is no further play, merely a rotating arrow suggesting it is about to play.
Play NEVER commences.
I look forward to your suggestions.

Thank you for your response.
we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with this further information. However, as you are currently running Android version 5.1.1, we must advise that All 4 is not fully supported, therefore you will experience issues with the functionality of the service. Please update your device to at least Android 7.1.1.
In regards to your computer, we must advise that the operating system Linux is not supported due to a low usage rate. Although you can view programmes, we must advise that you will experience some issues.
We do apologise for any disappointment this may have caused and hope this information is of use to you.
If you require further information, feel free to email me back or visit www.channel4.com/4viewers/faqs
Kind Regards,
Kara Bush
All 4 SupportMy new question therefore is can I, and if so How — do I upgrade to Android 7.1.1

November 12, 2019 at 8:59 pm #38207Blimy, they seem to have read and understood your reply and responded with a sensible answer.
This never happens !

If it’s a no name tablet, you might be out of luck. Go to Settings, then it’s usually under System, and Updates. You may need to dig through the settings to find it though.
November 18, 2019 at 9:45 am #38338I did as Tippon suggested (had already looked) and no upgrade options for Android as far as I can tell. So that means I am stuffed? No way to “persuade” it?
Maybe dustbin time.
Meanwhile, I did prevent Firefox updates (it must ask me first) and I now switch on 30 mins early. Needless to say it has booted up at its (normal??) steady speed. Updates at shutdown every time, and of course whilst watching F1, practice and race highlights, TV reception has been OK.
It won’t last, but only one more session ’till March or thereabouts.

November 18, 2019 at 5:36 pm #38347Android is at the mercy of the OEMs, you’ll only get one major update out of them – if that.
Have to say Apple are much better in that respect, but you pay for it.
November 18, 2019 at 7:45 pm #38350You COULD try installing a custom ROM Les. You will need a ROM that matches your device’s make and model exactly so find that and then search for Android custom ROM. Do that before going any further or you will be wasting your time 😁
November 24, 2019 at 5:36 pm #38517Samsung devices normally get 2 Android updates but you may only notice 1. Devices usually get 1 update while they are still current and 1 more once they are superceeded so you may buy a new device that has already had 1 update.
