I was gutted to learn that there would be no more MM but I am so glad to learn about this space.
Best wishes to all the MM staff (past and current) and thank you for all your work. Good look for the future.
January 8, 2017 at 2:17 pm #1936I echo the words of many others, may MM rest in peace. Is this forumite forum a similar hive of scum and villainy? or do the noobs stay out of sight of the pro l33t people (i believe thats how it was spelled in the day).
i too shall miss the occasional forray into the thread and the nostalgia it did bring.

Forumite Points: 0I’ve just registered, and deleted the MM favourites entry.
I think that was probably the oldest favourites link of all, it
must have been in my favourites since the ICL M40 286 beast
was operational.
January 21, 2017 at 12:47 am #2351It is sad to see MM sink but after reading the final issue it was obvious why I stopped buying it several years ago.
I felt it was never the same after Simon stopped being the editor. The only part of the final issue I enjoyed was Simon’s last bit which reminded me how it use to be.
Also the mag needed a name change in my opinion.
January 21, 2017 at 1:39 am #2353There were lots of views over the years from people upset that the mag no longer met their individual needs. Most views failed to appreciate the changes in the industry and the needs of the wider audience.
Hardly matters now, though, does it?
I see that Classic Rock, Metal Hammer, Prog Magazine, and TeamRock radio all folded in December (most if not all of them have been rescued, for now). I have no doubt that folks on the forums there know exactly what went wrong and how it could all have been fixed, all without any access to sales metrics, the advertising desk, industry knowledge, survey results, or other insider information.

Forumite Points: 0Very sad.
Glad to see some “old” chaps still about.
What no archives?
March 27, 2017 at 8:21 pm #5583I believe Lee got hold of a copy of the Forum, but it won’t be that easy to make it available.
March 27, 2017 at 9:33 pm #5587I’ll clarify on that. I did not get a copy of MM. I tried and tried the email I was given even from multiple addresses but never got a response. I was at first told it was waiting for me but I can only come to the conclusion that some one did not what me to have it. Shame really, I would of like to of been told rather than waist my time coming up with ways to bring it across but now to be honest I could not give two flying ————-! :yahoo:
Americans: Over Sexed, Over Payed and Over here, Wat Wat!
March 27, 2017 at 9:52 pm #5588Oh, I was unaware of this, Lee. I’ve heard nothing more from Simon, and I assumed you’d got hold of the data and were steadily working out what to do with it. I’d no idea he hadn’t replied to your emails. I can’t think what’s happened. I’ll contact Simon again and see what’s what. All very strange. I’m honestly as much in the dark about this as you.
March 27, 2017 at 9:55 pm #5589I just left it at that, I did not want to keep chasing it and did not want to keep on pestering you. Nothing worse than being the middleman.

March 27, 2017 at 11:18 pm #5594I returned to the final issue of MM last week, with a small tear in my eye 🙁
Arch Linux, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, 32 GB, 5 (yes -5) HDs inc 5 SSDs, 4 RPi 3Bs + 1 RPi 4B - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, 2 x NV GTX 1070 8GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.
May 15, 2017 at 6:03 pm #7404I know I’m a bit late to the party. Had a bit of a manic year so far.
Just wanted to say hi, I’m another refugee from the micromart forum.
Such a shame the vast wealth of knowledge that was the mm forum has vanished. I wasn’t to much of a regular but had been there a long time. My “E4300 Dave special” is still going strong (other than having a new mb).
It nice to see a few familiar names.

We need to know.
We also need to know if a bàttèry is a French power storage device….
