Sometimes you know by prices, pretty much for certain, that a seller is dodgy but oh the temptation to take a punt despite knowing it is 99.99999% certain to only lead to a wrestle with Paypal !!!!
Look here and see if you feel the temptation…….LOL

I’ll let you know if it arrives or if it mysteriously gets lost in the post. As I said £10 is not a great sum to lose and the seller has been on eBay for some years and has 100% feedback (Maybe spoofed).
PS, I couldn’t find a way to edit the previous post. In fact I can’t find where to create a new thread

February 19, 2017 at 1:08 pm #4115Can anyone explain the scam here? He’s obviously selling stuff cheap. Are they knock offs/stolen goods?
If they’re broken or something, I don’t see how Paypal wont side with the buyer and then he’s not gaining anything but losing out.

February 19, 2017 at 1:36 pm #4117I have give it a go just on the one in a million chance it’s a bargain and not a picture of a phone 🙂

February 19, 2017 at 1:42 pm #4121My betting is that there has been a mistake in his price. Similar phones on at £99.99 against this at £9.99.
The paypal payment has not yet gone through and it says the seller has not drawn the money yet. Interesting.
February 19, 2017 at 1:54 pm #4124Well the paypal email address used is a Chinese service ##########@163.com

February 19, 2017 at 3:02 pm #4127The scam is simple.
- Hack an ebay and paypal account.
- List valuable stuff at silly prices.
- Appease punters with tales of ‘supplier problems’, ‘ill health’, ‘unexpected order volumes’ and such.
- Take the money and run.
I hope for you all this isn’t a scam. But it is.

Server N54L 8GB SSD 6x Spinners HD6450February 19, 2017 at 3:11 pm #4129More likely ‘pump & dump’. Early birds get great bargains – good publicity then beware!
February 19, 2017 at 4:01 pm #4132Looks like its gone. Link leads to item not found.
February 19, 2017 at 4:29 pm #4134Ignoring the Pump&Dump risk, I well remember in China that there were more subcontractor scams than anything else, especially on high markup goods. The subcontractor would get a contract for (say) 5000 high value named French/Italian Fashion bags. They would in fact make (say) 7500. Raw material value naff-all but put name, logo and packaging on it and you are talking £;00s. Although the companies tried to control the important bits like their tags, there was always ‘wastage’ and a thriving blackmarket in knock-off tags that would get fixed to the ‘real’ bags and the resulting spares used as ‘genuine’ Frankenstein knockoffs. Bottom line, some top brand names could be obtained for peanuts in the well-known Beijing street market area, and some ‘genuine’ articles were in reality knockoffs.
I would guess that the phone market is similar even though the component mark-up cannot be as large, so I would doubt £8 for a £150 Elephone — £30 maybe.
February 19, 2017 at 5:12 pm #4138Yes all the products have been deleted. I still have the link to my order though. The payment has not been drawn from my Paypal account so my previous guess is probably the best answer, Not a scam, just a mistake. Still keeping fingers crossed though.

How? Because Paypal will refund the buyer if they don’t get the item. If anyone loses out, it’s Paypal. I’ve not purchased anything but I was just wondering.

February 19, 2017 at 6:03 pm #4143That’s what a scam is. Someone loses.
The scammer transfers the money out and disappears.
Then it’s last man to blink between paypal and punter.

Server N54L 8GB SSD 6x Spinners HD6450February 19, 2017 at 6:23 pm #4144There is also a fairly simple Paypal scam that can be pulled. List an item for under £25, ship from China just a cheap phone back. Customer complains to Paypal. Vendor accepts claim but wants recorded express shipment of phone-back before they will ship again. (Paypal terms) and will then ship missing item. Sending back the phone back at cost of ~£20 (non-refundable). Most customers will walk at this stage and accept loss. Vendor standing remains good with Paypal!
