      After creating a topic/reply it seems to take an age for the submit to go through.

            No it isn’t as I just had the same problem. Took about 30 seconds to load my response.

            The PC Advisor Forum had a similar problem for a couple of months which eventually turned out to be caused by invalid or expired links in members posts. Just for info as this is such a new forum it is probably not the likely cause.

                Spectre/Meltdown updates have been causing a mass of problems particularly to Cloud setups. Ars LInk

                I’m not suggesting that Lee has had these problems, perhaps the IP nodes you get routed through are having issues. This would explain different experiences at different times as routes change on the fly.

                  I do not have the fastest upload speed in the world but earlier this evening it was almost at dial up speed. Now it is something like 5 times faster going up and about faster by about 15% for downloads. I suspect that loads on the network are not being managed too well for some reason or another, maybe it is congestion maybe the weather may be something else.

                    RedHat makes up a large proportion of the commercial server world. Although noone but an idiot puts in fixes without thorough testing, losing a small proportion of them could cause a web slowdown, and it looks like the Spectre fixes (El Reg link) are at the slightly flaky end at the moment.

                      No problems with my speeds*, always around this area:

                      *Except I wish they were much higher, of course, but no one in my vicinity comes even close to those speeds. It’s a stable service and a 25ms Ping ain’t bad.

                        When I started this thread I was using Virgin BB. I am now using Sky’s free BB and the submit time is still slow.

                          There is a problem with the submit and I have noticed it for a few weeks and will be looked into once I find the time.

                          I see you got round using the support area this morning John.
