Even to me!  Being an old Dinosaur, I have never allowed “friending” by anyone. Not being of the “Facebook” generation, it all seems so pointless to me.

seriously what is the point of the feature? and is there an easy way to get a list of latest posts? i know its hardly busy but it may be one day if all goes well, and the short list in the side bar wont be sufficient.

that is the only feature i need in a forum. the extra are nice, but i like simple probably because i am lol.

lol what more do you want than the latest topics and replys that are already in the sidebar?  I can extend the list in the sidebar as far as you want, but it’s currently set at 5. The friend’s bit is a future feature and relates to groupes, be that admin, private, social and so forth for the likes of clubs or for particular interest such as c++, android or a win devotion club. When this feature is used it creates your own forum unseen by others. this may be a feature i should not carry over from a fishing forum but it’s there. thus allowing peeps with an interest in a particular subject that bore the pants of other private.

Good to see you can grow the list. I did say 5 is fine for now, but when you have 5,000 members all posting away, 5 won be adequate 😉

TThe private group thing is a good idea, google+ has alot of them, as the are super easy to set up fast. I’ve played a few mmo’s (think that’s the term)  and they always have a private page on g+, it was fb but Google is much simpler, functional and pretty.

 

I’ve not even logged into fb since November,  forget about the crap once there, the actual site is hideous and one big cluster f”+k.

IIt’s defo a good growing area. And this is by far the most modern forum you’ve done, probably actually the most modern I’ve seen. I’m still a fan of the boring php one tho. It’s more old school and nerdy. But I suppose that doest speak well to new comers.

 

How’s the fishing site doing? I bet all the fish escaped to the sea in all the floods 😉

The forum is shit for some reason considering i get 100 human, genuine visits a day. There’s summet to cock but not had chance to work out what yet. To be honest not been fishing for 6 months and that’s bad, very bad indeed. it’s all work at the moe and i cant complain as your self knew what the aim was moons ago. Its a case of jugling some stuff now before things go tits up and burn 🙂

Once I have started on the how to’s and features of the site I will promote it to some extent, ive plenty of contacts but as it is it’s all a mess hence trying new features.  I’ll need some mods though sunny jim.  :yes:

Mods for the fishing? Or here? Or somewhere else?  Does seem like there is much here to do until it takes off. Tho if they piss anymore mm members off, this may take off sooner than you thought.

 

They really managed the latest upgrade situation badly. There hasn’t even been any explanation or apology from the ed, which I find strange tbh. I can’t really complain I’ve only bought one mm this year.

To be honest, yes it was a screw up with the no warning and the like but i can feel for the guy. What gets me is the planks at MM not even popping in and saying sorry, not sure what’s happening but I’m doing my best to find out. This dawned on me after a read an old MM post, 2 secs and i’ll find it……..  http://forum.micromart.co.uk/Topic500276.aspx and the fact they have still “Anthony” as not even popped in the forum to explain anything, even if it’s a case of, hands up, sorry, i have not got a fucking clue whats going on. Lack of time is no excuse, 2 mins most. If 2 mins cant be achieved then it’s time to move on, very far on.

I have said from the beginning of this site I will always promote MM mag, Note the “Mag” but thats as far as it goes. I dont want that dying and if my little bit helps then good on it. I personally think it is little to late with ryanH. He’s only trying to get subs in for is pay packet. Instant.net is not open source and it’s all about brass, MM should be switching to open source now. Not only will save on costs but im sure with the chaps that hang around MM it will give them a boost to contribute and more reason to suggest changes that could be implemented if it was open and not closed as it is now. MM members are always happy to donate to a worthy cause and i think open source software is just that.

As for mod, i meant here, get em early and all that. 🙂 You and two others!

Lol no, have a few peeps I chat with on fb so Ive just installed pidgin and chat through fb like that rather than loading fb up in opera and slowing my computer to a crawl.

you raise a great point there lee regarding open source. the Mag is dying on its feet  (with printed media in general) and im sure the forum will be shelve within the next year or so. this  makeover must be costing a fair few quid too, which is strange as i doubt the forum shifts that many ,if any, extra mags these days.

anyhow, if they wanted to revamp it, they should of gone open source as that would of given them an EASY OUT once their new contract period ends. if its was open source it could easily be run by the MM community itself for 50p each form a handful of ‘forum angles’ for example. they could be the mods or something.

but now if they decide to kill the forum it would be to much work and or money to save it. it just goes to show Dennis is run by fools.

the forum may be provided for free, but they still have a responsibility for the community it created.

no been pee’d  off today. they just should of done it the simple way.

 

ive turned off all notifications, but it insists on subscribing me every tome i post. how do i get that to stop . it should be opt in not opt out. its worse than being spammed!

ALl you have to do is click notify of so and so at the bottom when you post. yes I guess it’s a pain for some.
