      I was looking for a 32GB SD Card  what’s the best, ie I don’t understand class 10.

While I was looking (on Amazon) I noticed they now go upto 512GB

Just a query (out my price range) – Are these any good.

      Cheers
      John

John, if all you need is 32GB I’d go for this.

I use the 64 and 128GB ones in my little Panasonic camera.

Can’t got wrong with an Evofor a fiver!

Class XX = how fast the card can read and write files. The larger the number the better and it’s based on how fast it can write files (read is always much faster).

Class 2 = 2MB/s, Class 10 = 10MB/s minimum write speed. You’ll often see the actual speeds list as well. So the Evo Nolan linked to is Class 10 minimum but capable of 20MB/s

I wouldn’t buy anything less than Class 10 for general use and that’s what most are these days. If you’re buying for a high spec device, like a camera with a high resolution that also takes shots in bursts, then it’s important you read the documentation.

That’s what I have in my Lenovo tab3 8, always believed it would be enough but I have only about 5 GB left on it, so keeping an eye on that. I have a 64 GB of same mini SD card in my box: bought for something else, never used and the Tab3 takes up to 64GB.

Bloody hell, that’s basically throw away pricing! 😲

                  https://www.sdcard.org/developers/overview/speed_class/

The SD speed class is a mostly useless indicator these days because just about all cards can reach C10. The 2 new ratings are UHS l-lll and Video class V. Have a look at the link above.

Thanks for that very comprehensive link, Graham. I have an HC SD card in tablet, phone and Sony camera. All videos are OK.

I tried to buy smaller ones for my Pi’s at one point, but it worked out more expensive!

Mine have turned up, direct from China!

Not had a chance to test them yet.
