I’d love to know how many Labour MP’s and Councillors have kids in the Private Schools that Labour are pledging to abolish……….ROFL
I know Diane Abbot put hers through private school……….LOL
You truly couldn’t make this up.

September 23, 2019 at 9:57 am #36894I think you should be balanced in your ROFL. This is her side of the story in a Mirror interview:
“Yet you sent your son to public school. Why?
DIANE ABBOTT Well, since I made that decision Labour built five new secondary schools in Hackney, one of them with some of the best GCSE results in the country. I wouldn’t have to make the same choice today.
BR But why did you make that choice at all?
DA I’d done a lot of work on how black boys underachieve in secondary schools so I knew what a serious problem it was.
I knew what could happen to my son if he was sent to the wrong school and got in with the wrong crowd.
I realised they were subjected to peer pressure and when that happens it’s very hard for a mother to save her son.
Once a black boy is lost to the world of gangs it’s very hard to get them back and I was genuinely very fearful of what could happen.“
September 23, 2019 at 10:26 am #36895I went to one of the best state Grammar Schools in the country, Sloane Grammar in Chelsea. It had a superb record of academic achievement. Four of classmates from my year of just 90 pupils now hold professorial chairs. Yet Alan Johnson who was two years my senior (and yes he had those bags under his eyes even as a teenager) says it did him no real good. Plus two lads of the year below me were charged with murder for ‘queer bashing’ on Wimbledon Common and found guilty IIRC.
So even grammar schools are no protection from falling in with the wrong crowd; which in any event is very often down to one’s associates outside school anyway. All in all I am not sure Diane Abbot’s answer holds up. That said I’m amazed Diane Abbot managed to at least make a good fist of an attempt to defend her actions. That’s something she is rarely ever capable of.

September 23, 2019 at 10:40 am #36897Oh BTW an interesting piece of Abbot trivia is that her son’s godfather is the ex Tory Minister Jonathan Aitkin of perjury fame who was at the time Abbot’s voting pairing. Guess she couldn’t find a good upstanding Labour MP for the role.

September 23, 2019 at 12:00 pm #36899‘Pairing‘ by definition is cross-party as it is designed to allow MPs to absent themselves in emergency. She had to pair with an opposition MP. I guess you conveniently forgot that fact in order to spin your tale.
Perhaps you would now like to spin a yarn about the mendacious BoJo’s lack of an explanation for his very suspicious actions as Lord Mayor. I suppose that as Ms Acuri was a well endowed lady that would be a sufficient excuse!
September 23, 2019 at 2:22 pm #36907I think Labour are finished. When I look at my life and the way they carry on I can only assume that they are cluless.
September 23, 2019 at 2:34 pm #36908I think we are ruled by a bunch of juvenile idiots adhering to outdated and outmoded procedures. Most of whom do it either for personal aggrandisement or back-handers.
We need a written constitution and proportional representation before you can say that we live in a democracy. We also need a way of weeding out parliamentary cretins incapable of making decisions fit for a modern world.

I agree totally.
As regards your previous post – No I didn’t forget to mention that ‘voting pairing’ was cross party. I assumed that assumed everyone knew that. When I said that she couldn’t find a Labour MP for ‘the role’ I was referring to the role of godfather to her son; which as far as I know does not have to be cross-party…..😋

September 23, 2019 at 4:57 pm #36915Sorry, I read your post too quickly. As you know Aitkin ‘saw the light’ and is now a Deacon in the Church of England. I guess that Abbot had a hard job finding any real Christians in the Labour party.

Strange that about Christians in the Labour Party isn’t it; because after this week’s raft of crazy policies they are going to get crucified at the next GE just as if they were. I kind of think that Labour’s policy must now be – “No matter how inept the Tories are we can do better.”……LOL
