      Hi guys

      (Don’t you just love acronyms?)

I have just been sent an email from No. 1 gson regarding RMA of an inoperative 4TB Hdd.

He included all the details WD gave in their email to him, but neglects to say (a) what he wants me to do about it and (b) where he has to send it: UK or USA address. I wonder if any Forumite has RMA’d to WD before? Any tips/advice?

      TY in advance.

EDIT: Cannot set topic as “Other” or “Shopping” – it reverts to “Legal and Law”.

Why is there no hardwear section?

Didn’t matter which section I tried to place it Lee, it just reverted to Law & Legal, would not let me do anything else.

Not a problem, someone will answer.

Well well, what a surprise – I suspect that I have RMA’d quite a few WD HDDs over the years.

If you go on the WD site:  https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?DL

Select the Warranty and Returns option – top RHS and then select Shipping Addresses – the one I used a few weeks ago was in:

            Western Digital Service Center
            c/o Flextronics UK
            109 Cheney Manor Industrial Estate
            Cheney Manor
            Swindon
            SN2 2DS
            United Kingdom

BUT he must get a RMA code first and they will need the serial number of the drive.

In fairness to WD who I have maligned a fair bit over the Black 5yr warranties – HDDs dying after 30+ months, my 1TB was replaced by a brand new 2TB unit manuf in May 2017.

            Hope this helps.

Yes you must go through the online process. You can then print a shipping label with everything on it.

Don’t seal up the package first as they ask you to put one inside. They also ask you to write the RMA number on 3 sides of the package as well.

I sent mine to the address above but the replacement came from Poland.

Thanks guys, I have copied and sent both posts to senior Gson. as he picks up personal emails about as often as I pick up winning tickets, I have to send a short one to his work addy, telling him to read his personal box. He is not good at reading texts or answering calls on either mobile or home phone either: leaves both phones in his bedroom at the other end of his flat.

He drives the family bonkers, only his 18 yo cousin can talk any sense into him.?

Many thanks, I may or may not learn if he has succeeded.? Then will pass it on.

                Cheers, Bob.
