A bit late as I haven’t been near my pc much lately but didn’t Richards last post say he wasn’t joining the subscription site because of the cost side of things or something to that effect.

I recall seeing that, so maybe he couldn’t sign in, maybe at the moment Lee has took it off I think, Richard just needs to pop in
Cheers

I’ve just looked at his profile and it’s showing as blocked, as is Richard. Can we unblock them pro temps and message them accordingly?? 🤞Tough times. 🙁

I second that, have tried to PM Richard but no success, obviously blocked. In view of his attitude towards cost as pointed out by Mark, he may well have abandoned the SS Forumite.

I'm out.May 2, 2020 at 3:39 am #42867Blocked is not as harsh as it sounds. There is plenty of places to post. None the less I am working up to getting shut of the membership. Sunday evening is on my hotlist. But it comes with rules! I’ll explain more later.

May 12, 2020 at 11:46 pm #43002@bdthree – Lee, this is a bit weird.
I’ve just noticed that Richard’s avatar was in the Who’s Online box, but couldn’t see what he’d done. I did a search and clicked on the name on his previous posts, and I’ve replied to it.
However, looking at latest Topics, Replies and Forums and I can’t see where that post by Richard, and the reply by me is placed on the forum.
Strange. It seems to only be in Richard’s Activity page, that he posted 5 hours ago, but showing nowhere else.
May 13, 2020 at 10:34 am #43005JayCeeDee, you are right, I had huge problems finding any way to write anything and the only way was as you found. Today I appear able to respond to your query. I have copied my explanation, and though it was addressed to Bob it applies to all who were concerned for my welfare. I am aware that the present problems are hard for all – the impact on each is different and it is taking time for the full effects to appear. Perhaps when lockdown eases for some the problems will appear, and for some a long time later. Whether we like it or not we will all find we have been changed and some will have been terribly damaged.
Bob, thank you for taking a keen personal interest in my state of health. It has been difficult this year, and it is not yet done. We are shielding. My wife is OK, and though I do try to get out with daughter’s dog, trying to control various issues with my blood pressure, they are making life trying in addition to my other health quibbles. Daughters are OK-ish; elder is buried under Coronavirus testing loads at a large hospital, younger daughter is at a loose end; her college is shut, so toys may have left the pram. We have unfixable issues there. I struggle to decide a way forward for her. I am not alone in having gremlins to face down, I know others have as much, some, have many times more trouble. For the moment I fix what I can, for the rest I am withdrawing.
Thank you for caring, take care, keep safe, retain your family values.May 13, 2020 at 12:09 pm #43006Reply from Social section copied to this Topic:-
Great to hear that you’re with us when life allows.
Wishing you and your family all the best for the current tribulations, plus the same for any that dare raise their head in the future. :good:May 13, 2020 at 12:13 pm #43007Glad to see you back. As expressed by Bob, a fear for your well-being was starting to become a concern for many of us.
With respect for your younger daughter, my understanding of the strain and difficulties you face have been enlightened by the BBC A-Word series of plays. I found last night’s episode that showed the huge gulf of mutual misunderstanding that can exist very enlightening. It is not something I’m relieved to say that I have faced with the one g’son who is only just on the A-scale.
May 13, 2020 at 5:51 pm #43010Very pleased you made contact Richard and I have a lot of sympathy for the troubles with your daughter. Having one severely dyslexic grandson, and another who is a MENSA genius but has Aspergers, I know from past history with the boys, the pressures you may be experiencing. Dyslexic gson only causes a problem for his single parent dad when he stays in his room on the PC and TV, due to being out of work from Fantasy Island, the entertainment complex near Butlins Skegness. Aspergers gson was a big problem when younger, his dad being long gone and myself having to fill that gap. It took time, lots of tough love and repetitive life lessons, but he has held down a great IT job since he was 18, is now 26 and has his own apartment. Which is in fact the one above ours, as we have left the village which was our home for 17 years and moved into a secure, gated apartment block in Louth, near the River Lud. Senior gson is now working from home and has made himself available for any help. We feel blessed that we have a good family: yesterday our son came and secured the new tumble dryer onto the washer.
I wish I could offer you a way forward with your daughter: is there no online learning/activity that she could use?
We all hope that you manage your troubles, you and your family stay safe and well. Many of us are obviously concerned about you and I think a PM to one of us now and again, with a short message, would allay some of that concern. Take care, stay safe.

I'm out.May 13, 2020 at 7:36 pm #43012Richard, glad that things are mostly OK.
Regarding your youngest daughter, keeping the mind and body active is vital.
I’ve found this lockdown a right pain as when things used to get a bit much much I’d go for a blast in my car. (A long bike ride before the car was a necessity). Luckily, mostly due to the folk on here that saw the potential for the pandemic, I ordered some exercise equipment before the prices went nuts. I’ve also been cleaning out stuff I’ve been hoarding for years. Difficult but needed doing.
As I can’t go for a proper drive I ordered some flying toys and a tiny R/C car from China. The car arrived today and is epic.
Get something, anything, to keep your daughter occupied.
Good luck.
