Never trust an atom - they make up everything !
May 26, 2018 at 9:49 pm #21184Beaten by a Welshman and two goalkeeping howlers, yes they do need a goalie. When the talisman went off injured, I sort of knew it was all over.
The only consolation was that the best-ever goal in the Champions League Final, was scored by a Welshman. What a terrific, athletic goal, just when Liverpool were beginning to look like they were getting back into it. For me, the most dangerous player on the pitch, was Marcello on the left wing. No Liverpool player picked him up, throughout the game, but there he was on the left touchline, just waiting for the ball. Then a run and a brilliant, penetrating pass or cross.

I'm out.May 26, 2018 at 11:17 pm #21186The only thing I worried about was being embarrassed. That never happened. Until salah went off, we was the better team. Me had Marcelo pined back, and it kept them honest. Only one decent chance each.
Once salah went off, (as predicted) we retreated 20 yards, as they wasn’t scared of out pase, and the game come down to human error.
The keeper, which I’d got behind since Xmas, (many haven’t), messed up with the first, but it could be explained away, wit the style klopp wants, (if we won), but the second bale shot is ‘bread and bitter’ . I can see klopp sticking with him, as he is stubborn, but the lad is gonna get the emotional shit kicked out of him. Nothing is above a European final to a Liverpool fan, an he royally f-ed up twice.
Now Bale has made a bit of a tit out of ZZ, as he was awesome once on. He probably just added 20m to his price tag for he summer.
Im not bitter, they won, they used all the ‘gamesmanship’ allowed but the rules (like wba do), but so would we if we could, so congrats to them. And I’m glad we made a good showing of ourselves.
Strenghen and move on.

May 27, 2018 at 12:47 pm #21210On reflection this morning I’m really gutted for Mo Salah. It’s not often I feel this was for millionaires living the dream, but given he seems such a nice guy, and the chance of Egypt making a WC again, this is Lilley his only chance. And him theirs.
It looks like it’s ligament sprain, something I lived with in training, but ankle, (but I taped mine up in Ma makeshift cast for the best part of 7 months) he can’t, and it looks like it’s an 8-16 healing period for the shoulder. With 30+/- days till the WC.
For him I hope he gets on the pitch. For Liverpool, I hope he has a quite time to recover. But I’ll happily put my Liverpool bias on hold, and cross my figures he makes the WC.
I don’t think Egypt are gong to be favourites anymore.
Also having watched the game back this morning, the keeper had a decent game, (bar the two moments), but I can’t see he recovering, the supporters, was never fully behind him before our biggest game in a decade.
Also that 3rd long ranger he parried in, he done the same at 0-0 (iirc) in the first leg of roma, but it spilled against the bar, and he has done it a couple of other times previous. So it’s not like this is a one off.
We can’t have out midfield terrier of the oppersition getting pop shots off. It will make them play deeper and deeper, and more to the point, stop us playing our high stakes football.
This keeper was brought in as he can play a high line, act as a lb old school sweeper, (which he is good at), but you need to also have the basics down. Like many a past lfc keeper, he is an excellent shot stopper, but give him a second to think, and it’s all goes to shit.
He will go on to be a good keeper, but not at Liverpool now. There was rumours that our keeper budget had been halfed from 80m to 40,as karius, may of got the 1 spot, and we was just going for a no2 keeper. Now I reckon we well be looking for an 80m keeper again. Sigh.
In other news, F1 starts soon. The Monaco GP, also known as the M25 follow along.
May 27, 2018 at 9:23 pm #21237I feel great sympathy for every Liverpool supporter, having supported a team in Europe that was robbed by a bent Spanish referee, bribed by the Anderlecht owners. That did not get proven until 13 years after Forest were well out of things, and the ref confessed in the face of growing evidence that even UEFA could not ignore, even though they tried hard to bury it.
We would have gone on to win the Final, I’m certain. Cloughie had built another great team, but over the next few years it all fell apart.
I have watched replays of Mo Salah in contact with Sergei Ramos, a much bigger player than Mo. He had several goes at Mo, as did other Real players: it was obvious that they wanted Liverpool’s best player stopped. For that last “tackle”, Ramos trapped Mo’s arm between his and fell on it, pulling it back. Watch that replay: it was a clear, dangerous foul and it caused the dislocation. Having played and seen similar injuries, I knew immediately what had happened. Ramos should have been off the pitch. When Mo went off, it destroyed the rhythm of the front 3 and Real grew in confidence. It proved one thing: Lallana is not what he was and Jürgen needs to buy a goalkeeper and a very good utility front man for when any one of Salah, Mane or Firmino are injured. It’s true that Real eventually became the better team, but only after Mo went off and Karius made those mistakes. For the first part of the first half, Real were penned in their own half. Then in the second half was the Bale wonder goal. And somebody should have advised Karius not to try to palm away a Bale shot: he hits them hard, although often they go over the bar.
I believe that the team will be back in Europe next season if they stay together, better and more experienced. Certainly the young players were not overwhelmed.

I'm out.May 31, 2018 at 2:44 pm #21396On a longer reflection the season was great. And we have broken Zidane lol. his departure shows he has looked at the team he was handed, is over the hill, and he has jumped ship. He will need to get an other job and prove himself.
Anyway, I got side tracked, the season was good, we have two great players coming in, and probably a 3rd, to fully replace our midfield, and act as cover for the front 3. Plus we will defo get two keepers, as ward and mings is off. And we need a decent centre back, VVD and loveran is a good partnership, but scratch the surface and we are light.
All that aside, I have said I’m not a betting man, but me and 2 other Liverpool fans, and one manc, have all better on Liverpool making next year’s final in Madrid. (I suppose the manc is banking on them) , and we have decided, to do a raid trip to Madrid.
The footy is just an excuse. Lol. Just priced it all out, boat, fuel and digs, and the trip costs come out at around £600 in total, excluding food and drinks. So a fun cheap week away.
I just need Liverpool to play their part.
May 31, 2018 at 4:58 pm #21408I definitely believe that they will be back in the Final next season. As an aside, can you see Mourinho singing with his team’s supporters like that? he hardly waves to them as it is and they are getting p***ed off with the krap they are watching atm. That expensive Everton import is now being seen for what he is: just a battering ram to clear the defenders for the better front players. Want to see VVD deal with that next season. Apparently both Lukaku and the other mega-buy Pogba, want out before next season.
Incidentally, I have a mongrel nephew who supposedly supports Man U (from the usual 100+ miles distance) and went on FB to laugh, complete with offensive language, about Liverpool being knocked out by Real.
I answered with ‘Oh yeah, remind me who got to the REAL Champions Cup Final, and who won the Mickey Mouse Euro Third-rate cup? Who was beaten by Chelsea in the FA Cup Final? Who is the second-best team in Manchester now?’
I received a derogatory reply about Forest of course, to which I replied ‘I was waiting for that, why can’t you leave out some of the deliberate spelling and bad grammar, I know you can do it right, from the last letter you wrote years ago?’
But the real replies came from all my other Forest – supporting family, who blitzed him and his mates. Best one came from my eldest niece: “At least we support a local team that we go to see at every game, not some posh overpaid bunch of Prima Donnas 100 miles away. How long does it take to save up to see 2 or 3 games a season, if you can buy a ticket?!” Cracked me up, good lass. Nephew nobhead has not answered yet, realises he made a big mistake with the Forest remarks and is not welcome at other family houses now. Another niece came up with “Where were Man U when Forest were neck and neck with Liverpool in the League and European Cup years?”
