Last month the wife wanted a speaker for the kitchen, we looked at the middle Google home, but we didn’t need another, and I did d want to spend £90. Plus its just not as easy to use as a plain BT speaker. Or rather to troubleshoot for a non tech.

So I went for the Anker sound core for £29.99. It’s very good. Build great, sound very good, has some l decent depth, and it has a long battery, for thoughs that like to carry a radio around the garden.

Its that good in fact, it would make a decent sound bar for a small room, or kitchen. I’m very impressed. There is one with and with out an aux in. I’d get the one with the aux in, for added flexibility.

Anker SoundCore Bluetooth Speaker Portable Bluetooth 4.0 Stereo Speaker with 24-Hour Playtime, 6W Dual-Driver, Low Harmonic Distortion, Patented Bass Port and Built-in Microphone for Calls for iPhone, iPod, iPad, Samsung, LG and others https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B016MO90GW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_khudBb98JX7AW

Side note, if you have an echo dot, this is a cheap way to make it sound better, and a better mic pick up. Shame the Google home mini doesn’t have an aux out.

Not being familiar with the device I assume that it has to be paired with a sound source device with BT output?

Or, does it do something different? My wife has her kitchen Hi Fi and TV, the latter with the sound often turned off for some reason…

I bought one of these. If you ignore the carp FM radio it is a brilliant mains powered  BT speaker. Nice ’round’ sound if you know what I mean.

I guess it could be a crap-shoot on the FM radio and I was just unlucky, but I would advise against it as a radio.

I bought this one for Ellen last Christmas. It was £35 then, and definitely worth it. She put it on in the kitchen yesterday, and it drowned out the TV in the living room 😀

BT and Aux inputs. So you could just plug it into your tv aux out.
