On New Years day a number of works enter the Public Domain in the US. Although so far at least British and EU definitions of public domain are more permissive than the US, the US change will make it easier to acquire the sound archives which for Jazz lovers is more important.

The Smithsonian has a useful article highlighting what is due for release.
