January 25, 2017 at 2:10 pm #2668Can I suggest that you get yourself tested for thyroid problems.
The more you meet people the more you understand why Noah took animals instead of humans
January 25, 2017 at 2:35 pm #2669You will have to drag yourself to the letterbox though.
Try switching your PC off for half a day. :good:
Laptop T420 i5 8GB SSD 2x Spinners Optimus GFX
HTPC 5350 8GB SSD 2x Spinners Antec 300
Desktop 2700K 16GB Revo x2 GTX570SC Antec900
Server N54L 8GB SSD 6x Spinners HD6450January 25, 2017 at 2:52 pm #2671
My daughter has the same problem, just waiting for the next doctors appt when we are going to ask for thyroid tests.
January 25, 2017 at 3:36 pm #2674Ive order some sort of vitiman potion for thyroid as symtoms from what I have read are identical including putting on to much weight. And its not because im sat at a PC all day as i’m always running around like a blue arse fly and in general I dont eat rubish. I’ll give them ago for a bit and if worse case scienario and I realy must i’ll go see the doc.

January 25, 2017 at 3:51 pm #2676Do something away for the PC? You was saying you wanted a hobby, try joining a club of some sort. Maybe the institute of North Yorkshire pornstars may have an uplifting effect. failing that a local RC car club or even a ‘maker space’.I’d imagine them not as pretty but could be more interesting . Maybe not, but prior could potentially have the added effect of exercise.

January 25, 2017 at 4:12 pm #2679You may be right about the Thyroid suspicion Lee, but ther could be another cause: https://tinyurl.com/h4rnu2g
My SWMBO suffered from over-active Thyroid problems for years, she had the radiation treatment to kill most of the problems. Now she swings from over- to underactive. Overactive doesn’t last long (thankfully) and she becomes absolutely manic, has to find something to do, metabolism speeds up, loses weight, becomes Mrs. Hyde. Everything is a crisis, have to tiptoe around her, careful with words. I have seen her throw one of her 1,000-piece Jigsaws across the room. Terrifying, from a normally placid little lady. Mostly it’s underactive: no energy, eveything too much trouble, CBA with any activity, puts on weight, always hungry. Has Thyroxin tablets every morning and night.
My eldest gson the Aspergers sufferer, also has those swings from under- to overactive. He has medication, but his overactive spells result in a racing heartbeat and panic attacks. What we originally feared about his future, was that he would be unable to cope with life and would have to keep an eye on him concerning that. However, he has a really good job and his own flat, looks after himself well and has a good life: but the whole family take turns in visiting him, checking his medication, closely watching him for signs of overactive symptoms. Best helper there is his younger cousin my other gson: they get on great and he knows what to look for.
Hope you get this sorted Lee, but don’t worry too much about Forumite for now. If you have to leave it alone for a bit, we will all understand. Get to the Doc’s and get some help.

I'm out.January 25, 2017 at 4:46 pm #2684They are all good suggestions but another that does not yet appear on the list is depression; it can closely mimic the sorts of symptoms you report. It can be very insidious as it creeps up and takes over. However, when symptoms are really causing you concern or grief it could be time to get a proper medical check up as there are too many possible issues that can affect one’s ability to function. Coming off a high when you bust a gut to get something working and enter a lull period of you life can have several possible causes and not all of them are a simple reaction to the work load change. Another possible problem at this time of year is SAD, long night and dismal days are not an invitation to be happy active and carefree.
Above all take it seriously and do not neglect the feelings, they can hide real issues.
January 25, 2017 at 5:37 pm #2690Richard Sad can’t be an issue, he live in North yourshire, the weather is always Sh*ite?.
Nothing against Yorkshire, i could of used any region north of Nice ?
But regarding depression, that’s why I mentioned going out, breaking your “comfortable” routeen can do wonders. With my wife being ill, she dips in and out of depression, and if you don’t catch it early, it’s not very nice, and slot of people don’t refard it as an illness, luckily it’s gaining more exceptance as the years roll by.
Also I think depression though caused by situation, I think it’s in the genes so to speak, it’s not something your fully every rid off. It’s all about management. And one way is to not to flget stuck in ruts, both a bad rut and a good rut funny enough is bad. Though changing it up is hard, even when your not depressesed and in good health.
January 25, 2017 at 6:42 pm #2697No dispute on that point; depression is all manner of an issue that presents in many different ways. While often considered a purely brain or attitude issue (pull yourself together) it is usually a complex issue frequently with a physical, or organic form and I would certainly not rule out a genetic component. It can be affected by the sorts of foods people eat, not always the ones that best match their genetic needs, or those needs which have evolved over time as their gut flora changes. Winston Churchill was a famous depressive though with strong hints of manic depression or bipolar.
Note, I am NOT selling some daft new age traveller diet solution but foods can play an important part in mood self management.
January 25, 2017 at 8:03 pm #2705Depresion as run in the family but has it happens on further investigation thyroids to. Ive been on anti-depresent, some real strong sleep aids to but they did not realy coincide with me trying to build a business from nothing plus the burden of looking after my nan for the past 7 ish years. Here’s the thing. I am stuck at home and though my nan goes to bathroom by her self and get some one in to help her bath etc… I still am stuck here 98% of the time as she is terrible on her pins. So many times I have had to help her up and she is no small person believe me, plus she cant make cuppas for her self, her tea, dinner breakfast etc… so all in all I have to be here all the time so it’s essential I try and build a business for my self. I can’t live of the lowzy allowance she gets for me to help “£343 a month” so believe me it does get me down.
On top of that I am very restless, my brain is always working away and I have tried everything to stop that. It realy pisses me of when people say empty your head of thoughts or dont think on things. Were I am concerned it is impossible. So all in all, yes I do get down and so tinkering with forumite helps me out and keeps me occupied rather than dwelling.
BUT
The last time I rember feeling well in my self was when I went on the low to none carb diet and looking into thyroids further appaerntly little carbs can help so for now I am going to go that route and also sort my cellar and start mucking about down there again as I have not been realy down there for two years building anything and I have a few ideas.
Thanks for all the sugestions, i’ll be coming back to them 1 by 1 if needed 🙂

January 25, 2017 at 8:22 pm #2709I suffer from the over active mind and lack of sleep as well.
I find trying to stick to a sleep routine helps a little, not enough but anything is welcome.
January 25, 2017 at 8:27 pm #2710I have found a few tricks that sometimes help me get off. Sometimes I’ll think about what I can build wood work wise, other times ill think of being back at the caravan site before the split in the summer “Minus the ex-wife” and depending on the time I usualy put the shipping forcast on as daft as it sounds.

January 25, 2017 at 9:19 pm #2716I just wanted to add to the title, “before you go go”.
Sorry, you’ll have that running through your heads for the rest of the night/day (depending on when you read this)
Arch Linux, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, 32 GB, 5 (yes -5) HDs inc 5 SSDs, 4 RPi 3Bs + 1 RPi 4B - one as an NFS server with two more drives, PiHole (shut yours), Plex server, cloud server, and other random Pi stuff. Nice CoolerMaster case, 2 x NV GTX 1070 8GB, and a whopping 32" AOC 1440P monitor.

January 25, 2017 at 9:37 pm #2721I have the overactive mined, that never turns off. Hence the late nights babbling garbage at 4am here!
If yoh are starting to feel down lee, go and see your doc, tell him the tablets don’t work and you like to see a real specialist, and not a specialist in handing out antibiotics.
January 25, 2017 at 10:48 pm #2732I have a weird sleep routine: I never go before 1 am as I just cannot sleep, have to be cream-crackered so that I just put my head down and go. Very occasionally, I drop off in the sofa, SWMBO nudges me and I go to bed. Might be 7, 8, 9 pm, I just zonk out. Then I wake at some daft hour and I am really awake. So I get up, get dressed, leave a note, get the car out and just drive. No particular direction, I just take the turns that interest me. I have seen some sights at daft 0′ clock, I can tell you. Some times I drive to a spot I know and watch the sun come up over the North Sea, on a clear morning that is fantastic, makes me feel great. Drive home, maybe into my son’s village, annoy him by banging around his kitchen making tea and waking him up.
SWMBO says she will have me committed one day. I’ve told the grandkids not to believe a word she says….. 🙂

I'm out.January 25, 2017 at 11:12 pm #2736#I’m luckier than you bob, I get to watch it set at a decent time each day, but sadly, I don’t get the to after 10am mid summer. I usually time it with walking the dogs along the mountain path. It’s an old disuaed rail line, that was tard over about 6 years ago. It runs right along the edge of the mountain . Is resedents use the old station carpark to park. The old station has just had an envelop scheam finished to save the building while we raise money as a community to repurpose the billing. We just secured £3m of loto funds, the council’s give is half, and we have to raise a further £1m most of it is in place. Taken about 5 years in the making.
The referb in reality could be done for £300k, bit as it’s listed, and we have to use certain approved contactors the costs are astronomical.
January 25, 2017 at 11:32 pm #2741If I have not been awake atleast 17 hours it’s pointless me trying. If do try one of two things happens. Cold sweats or nasty nightmares. Either of which means I am back awake within 45 mins. The problem with that is because I have had a brief sleep my body seems to class that as a full sleep and I’m awake again for hours on end no mayter how rubish I feel.
I feel I should of titled these forums something other than Tech Forums. :yahoo:
