Just a heads up if anyone finds this kinda stuff interesting.

So, they know that about 3.5 billion years ago mars and the earth where very similar.

Sedimentary rock from our history of the same time shows signs of life.

Perseverance rover and its a big ol’ bus is doing the rounds on mars looking for said signs fossils.

Anyway I don’t explain anywhere near as competently as cox so here is the link on perseverance’s endeavors and much more.

I watched most of it, very good. Have to finish it off sometime.

As an aside, I got a replacement Amazon TV box a few weeks ago, the Cube. My old Fire TV was 8 years old and whilst it was 4K you could see it was struggling with the modern UIs on the apps. The Cube also combines an Alexa speaker, so that’s one more box I can get shot of.

The quality of the picture is incredible, we even watch live TV through iPlayer or ITV Hub etc. I always thought the HD picture via FreeSat was very good but it’s rubbish compared to the Fire TV. I can only assume there’s some clever upscaling going on and whilst you can’t add detail, there’s some sort of processing enhancing things. Of course content like anything Attenborough, The Mandalorian and Obi Wan Kenobi etc. are 4K these days.

The Sound Bar is being properly dealt with (we used to lose it if you paused for too long, it went back to the TV speakers) and the voice control is a lot better and gives limited control of the TV too without installing the Panasonic “skill” which was a bit crap anyway. It comes with an IR sender, so you can use it to control any other IR remote capable equipment you have.

They’re normally £100, but I got it for £70 in one of the flash sales Amazon have now and again.

It won’t be too long before they will include an AI chip that will analyse the picture and add such typical missing detail. The AI tech is already there to do it off-line, but on-line is not a real-time option for now.

I worry a little about how such future tech will be used as I can see that police/security forces would love to take blurry video and use it to finger a suspect. Even I would be very hard pressed to think of an alibi for some date/time/place last month, and most Juries/Barristers/Judges would not have the technical knowledge to even question the video and algorithms/datasets used.

@ Dave. No pint in me getting an ATBox as I’m on sim internet 5MB’s on second and zero the next. One to put on the back burner.

Yeah the terrific cox program has inspired me to watch 2 classics being: The Andromeda strain and The forbidden planet.

@ EDP. sounds like you played Cyberpunk 2077 already. 🙂

              Not yet!

I did a little personal research into the generative way that AI enhancement works.

              See thttps://github.com/adamian98/pulse

However, just think if a police force used only images from their criminal photo database to generate the AI. I’ll give you one guess what sort of person’s image will come out of a blurred photo/video!
