I have a 40″ Sony Bravia, Humax HDR-11oos Freesat 1TB box and a Samsung HW-J250 Soundbar:

Humax is ethernet and ex-Sky dish connected (Freesat LNB installed) and HDMI ARC lead. The soundbar is connected via an optical toslink cable to the TV, which has just one toslink socket. I also have set up our Chrimbo pressie to each other: a Pioneer X-CM32BTD-K CD receiver system: http://tinyurl.com/ycvyfxgs – which also has a toslink socket. I am trying to get my head around connecting the Pioneer to the TV/Humax setup, and am considering a toslink splitter, some of which are switchable, enabling choice of inputs. The Pioneer has 2 x 15 watts speakers, plenty for our small living room, either side of the TV and the small Pioneer base box is to the left of the TV and down. Has anyone used an optical splitter, and does it have any effect upon the signal strength? Also. I have had an “ION” USB turntable for years, an unused gift, which can record vinyl direct from almost anything. It has RCA line out jacks as well as a USB cable. It also has an amplifier onboard and I am thinking of playing and recording vinyl through the Pioneer, which has RCA “Line In” sockets. The Pioneer instruction book states that another amp cannot be connected to it, but I wonder if that really applies. I don’t want to buy another record deck, but will if I have to. I am wondering if anyone has any advice?
