Full recovery will take time and you MUST learn to be patient – not necessary now to wallpaper the hallway. I hope you have a speedy recovery and get back to full health.

April 19, 2018 at 7:24 pm #19869Bob you have survived military service and Nottingham Forest – this will be a doddle – keep fighting mate and wish you back to full health as soon as possible.
April 20, 2018 at 7:55 pm #19880Thanks guys. I have actually been out for two walks today in gorgeous sunshine with faithful SWMBO.
Bloody hell Bob, you’re showing us younger members up! When I had the transplant I had a smaller scar, and was in hospital for longer, never mind bed ?
Glad to hear that you’re on the mend and still showing us how it’s done 🙂
April 20, 2018 at 9:44 pm #19887Just realised that I left this thing on Sleep, on this page, whilst I went for a coffee sometime this am. Have since had two more walks, second incentive being get to village shop and have a locally made Ice cream. Sat in the sun at the crossroads with SWMBO, watching the world go by. Lunch and another walk, tea and the realisation that it wa still on. Guys, I am doing much better than I thought I would be. My GP called while I was out, asked for a call back ( HE asked for a call back!) and when I returned was gobsmacked that I am walking so much.
I just love the sun. This morning a first shower in the buff and my nurse Mrs Bob has cleaned and redressed the wound.
I am blessed, can feel my strength slowly returning.
BL, 12 years of HMF service was less painful than following Forest for the last two years and more!

I'm out.April 20, 2018 at 10:33 pm #19889So glad to see you are on the mend Bob, take things slowly for the next few weeks and then when you are a 100%, string it out for another month or so!!

April 21, 2018 at 7:54 am #19891A slight divert Bob, next time you are roaming around Nottingham you may be interested in a visit to the National Videogame Arcade, or if you are in Leicester the RetroComputer Museum.
I first came across the latter in one of their many YouTubes.
April 21, 2018 at 2:01 pm #19912Thanks Ed, I knew about both places. Probably go some day with gson’s.
Had a Down Day today, just recovering. Up at 7:15, felt great: slept from about 10 to 12:30. Family descended upon us, garden and house sorted. Went for a walk accompanied by lovely senior gdaughter. What a bonus is a caring, loving family!

I'm out.April 21, 2018 at 2:39 pm #19915I trust you mean a rest day rather than a gloom and doom day. Sadly there could be a few of those as you recover but from what I am hearing from you with all the support and the right sort of assistance you are getting that should not be a big problem. Have rest and be thankful days along with I want to do a bit more today days – as long as they are not do too much days, ever. The weather may change to something a little more seasonal again soon so enjoy the relax weather, gain strength so when the time comes you can join the bale us out crew when the rain returns.

Awesome news, mate 🙂

April 22, 2018 at 7:05 pm #19943Today has been a short one: at around 2 am last night I finally found my lost Sleep Button. I was completely out of it until 11:20 this morning. Woke up wobbly and weak, had brekkers, forced myself to wash and shave (point of order with me has to be a shave every morning) Stayed on my feet about an hour, very weak, legs shaking. Back to bed, slept until around 2 pm. Felt much better, had a walk. Then a longer walk, sat in the sun with faithful SWMBO. Back home, ate a small meal, (they are all small-stomach is shrunken.) I feel bettter, but the special bit is that my head is clearing and thoughts/reactions sharpening up.
Tomorrow, all being well, a shower and fresh dressings across my (smaller) belly. Thigh fat is all gone, face is thinner. Lost 2 stone plus, although I would have preferred a less traumatic Diet Programme.
Considering fitting a SFF PC in all that empty space down below….
Every little helps!???

I'm out.April 22, 2018 at 8:13 pm #19949Pace yourself Bob, your body has had a big shock. Depression at any set-backs can be your biggest enemy, so keep up your positive outlook!
April 22, 2018 at 8:44 pm #19954Bob – after your op, you DON’T need a challenge every day. Take each day as it comes there will be good days and not-so-good days so it is vital not to overdo things at first.

April 23, 2018 at 6:26 pm #19973Thanks guys, but the real reason for the weakness is found by my GP: I’m anaemic.

I'm out.April 23, 2018 at 6:39 pm #19974I was also anemic, had some very high dose vitamins for a couple of weeks and now a monthly maintenance dose and all is sorted. My medication for the arthritis is the most likely culprit.
Still knackered all the time though……….
Keep on rocking Bob!
April 24, 2018 at 1:43 am #19980Thanks guys, but the real reason for the weakness is found by my GP: I’m anaemic.
Good luck, anaemia’s a sod 🙁
It’s probably the worst part of this illness, mainly because it makes me breathless way too easily. I’ve found that iron supplements help, and iron water is the easiest to deal with. One sachet in a glass of fruit juice, once a day, half an hour before and after any caffeine. Just remember to leave a bit of time after brushing your teeth too, or you get that fruit juice and toothpaste taste ???
This is the stuff I use:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0019M7OCA
I get it from Amazon because I’ve got Prime with free delivery, but it’s probably cheaper if you shop around.
April 24, 2018 at 8:41 am #19987Thanks Nolan I will see what the GP offers, but order that in the meantime. Probably tablets from GP, I have a drawer full of them!
Cheers, as always there is personal recommendation here.?

I'm out.April 24, 2018 at 4:15 pm #19998IF allowed by GP, (beef)liver is one of the best dishes to have. It not only cures iron deficiencies but hits a lot of B vitamin/folate/K2 deficiencies too.
April 24, 2018 at 4:25 pm #20002Thanks Ed. Have not eaten liver and bacon in years, must check with the GP.
