      Maybe I will just use it for for backup or storage then.

      It puts me off WDs a little and with the the comments, but its the first with a click for me.

          Here’s a list of HDD diagnostic software https://www.lifewire.com/free-hard-drive-testing-programs-2626183 Samsung is #6 on the list.

            The Samsung site listed on the drive has now been redirected to Seagate, and they have no record of my drive…

                HDD Scan is my current favourite for drives like fujitsu that don’t have their own diagnostics.

                  Samsung Drive Diagnostic Utility (Hutil) 2.10 – it seemed to work for me a couple of years ago.

                  I can also send you the bootable ISO – Samsung ESTOOL 301v – it is only 3MB.
