As some may remember I tried a low carb diet back on MM a few years back which did work when I stuck at it. Well I am going to give it another more determined bash as of tomorrow. Would of started today but forgot to get some sweeteners for my Tea but well stocked up now. I am realy going to try and put some effort in this time. I know the first couple of weeks are going to be tough as I am going for about 30g of carbs a day.

Keto diet that sounds like. I did that a few years ago and it worked wonders. I’m trying to get back in to it now as well.

January 2, 2018 at 4:18 pm #15148Yes it is keto. Just looking at alternatives, cauliflower mash instead of normal mash for example. This is why I no doubt give up last time as I did not spend some time planning and finding alternatives. One thing for sure is Beer is out of the question 🙁
I remember last time I did it though once I got over the initial worst of it “about two weeks” I began to feel a million dollars, better than I have for as long as I can remember anyhow.

January 2, 2018 at 4:40 pm #15149I have heard it said many times that once you get past the 2 week or 14 day point things settle down quite well. We largely gave up on sugar years ago. So much so that three or four Olympics later we still had a packet advertising the chance to win a trip to somewhere, Atlanta I think. What does for my weight management issues are troubles with family health issues and the stress and impacts that they cause. Wine just becomes too appealing as another shower of nasty stuff descends and a nice bit of ‘that lovely cheese would go a treat on something with a bit of snap and bite‘. A week later as the fog starts to clear, 6 pounds / 3 KG or so have miraculously been found. Christmas saw substantially reduced physical activity after my operations so couple that with a few other issues and it is time to regroup for a new battle of my bulge.

Also just had a Chinese ?
January 3, 2018 at 8:58 pm #15186Steve I used to go Cross-Country in weather like that, loved it, in fact got a few wins and a lot of placings in conditions like that. “Used to” meaning up to my late 40’s, then life, family and work got more serious. I really loved running, one thing I really missed after first spinal injury came back to bite me and put paid to it when I restarted in early 50’s. When I was younger and fit, I would have loved running up and down your mountain!
There were a few young officers I used to run against in Army service meetings, some real Wodneys and Wuperts. All dressed in the best gear, me in grotty old shorts and naughty message T-Shirt*. I used to love running them into the deck over the last ¼ mile, turn around and run backwards for a bit, then steam away. I was hated by some of them.
