I started a new topic using the link in the (New Topic) Forums Menu
When I went to submit it I got
ERROR: Forum ID is missing.
This I think means the forum index, as I then started a new topic from the Forum Index. and it submitted ok.
Cheers
JohnJanuary 4, 2018 at 11:58 am #15222When you’re creating a new topic, under the main “text input” box, there is a drop-down menu. That is where you select what sub-forum you want your new topic to live.
Since about day one mods (at least) have had this interface. Tbh its the only way I’ve ever created a thread. But I’ve always had mod privileges.
I think the other way to do it, is the way you ended up doing it, go to the forum you want then hit the “add new topic”, this will negate the need of the drop-down menu i mentioned above . as instead of telling the forum where you want it (via the drop down) you have already navigated to the place first.
I hope this makes sense.
January 4, 2018 at 12:01 pm #15223Every body has to use the drop down to select a category otherwise where would it go. That error occurs when a category as not been selected. The only place you do not select a sub cat is “other” I believe.

January 4, 2018 at 12:17 pm #15227I thought if you actually navigated to the subforum, then hit add new, it just plunked it im that subforum. But if you used the quick add new button you need to select where you want it to go via the drop down.
Like i say, ive only used the quick add button, that use to live at the very top left. Iirc it was a grey cross on a black background. Though knowing me it was a pink cross on a green stripe
January 4, 2018 at 12:23 pm #15228Yes you can also do as you say, use the form in which ever cat you happen to be in to post in that forum.

January 4, 2018 at 7:34 pm #15251I suppose I sit corrected in a fasion
Only once (today) have I used the the New Topic from the above drop down menu and didn’t see the drop down below text editor above submit, I went straight to submit.
Lee I am not a member of the everbody
As a rule I use the forum index, go down to the forum I wish to use (ie other stuff) click on it go down to the text editor text it then submit. It is in the forum I wanted as I chose it in the first place.
I will remember not to use Forum drop down for New Topic and stick to the Forum Index

Cheers
