The new Raspberry Pi3+ has been announced link, with a faster 64bit processor, Bluetooth, wifi, and hobbled gigabit ethernet , plus PoE pins. link

I’m afraid that I for one was very disappointed and underwhelmed. I was looking for USB-3 and USB boot – that would have had real value to me. The announced improvements are not enough for me to rush out and buy one.

A minor addendum, at this time it does not appear that native 64bit support is included in the upgrade. i.e a 64bit chip but only running in 32bit mode.

The PoE has made me sit up!

I’m not worried about the Ethernet  being only 330 mb/s, that’s more than enough to talk to my NAS. Indeed I can see the 802.11 AC actually being used for data transfer with the Ethernet purely for power.

The fly in the ointment is £36 for the PoE HAT and the silly money people want for a power injector (a TRENDnet TPE-S50 4 port PoE switch is about the same money as a single injector).

It depends what you want Dave. If you are happy with non-standard you can do it cheap as chips link.

I guess unfortunately you tend to pay if you want certified equipment.
