Purchased a copy of Office 2019 from eBay and think I’ve been conned into buying pirate software. Listing is here. I’ve purchased Windows 10 before without issues. Anyhow, this one, rather than provide me with a serial number has given me a link to a Google Drive folder (my first red flag) and then has downloaded the ZIP file, which contains the installer and a license installer (second red flag). The license installer gives the following:
I’m loathe to run them and am considering going back and asking for a refund.
Any thoughts?

May 27, 2019 at 7:36 am #33632It is up to you but this link give a bit of information about what you appear to have bought. I hope it gives you some food for thought and allows you to make your own choice. It is clearly NOT a stand-alone install for you. However, other may be able to flesh out those bones.
May 27, 2019 at 8:15 am #33633Richard, link appears to be missing? I’ll have a google and see what I can find.

May 27, 2019 at 10:27 am #33635It’s what it says it is, a volume licence. Legitimate in that it’s real but legal? as in are they entitled to sell it to you – I doubt it. Get a refund.
May 27, 2019 at 12:07 pm #33638I am sorry, I screwed up Here is one of the many links that I found https://www.techsoup.org/support/articles-and-how-tos/how-to-download-and-install-microsoft-office-2019-products-requested-from-techsoup
However, as Dave said and I think I hinted it sound about as honest as a 3 legged Grand National winner, (I think they usually have four legs?)
May 27, 2019 at 4:34 pm #33654I use the UK equivalent of TechSoup to get the charities software. I noticed that the MS products were going over to this way of deployment (I used to just get a key from VLSC) so decided to get my new licences from EBay as they were cheaper and less hassle!
There’s irony for you. They must be buying in massive volumes to make it pay, so much so I think it must be dodgy in all respects.
May 29, 2019 at 4:39 pm #33739I got a refund and on digging, found I had a spare O365 activtion on the work email, so installed it via that instead!
