She was born in 1981, a teenager in the Diana/Fergie era, ( events were  still widely reported in America ) so she cannot have been unaware of the perils of marrying in to the British Royal Family. I won’t say she brought it on herself, but she fell for the dream and ignored the history and the reality.

The currently hospitalised Royal is so obviously the source of the ‘skin’ comment!! He came from an era when “..a touch of the tar brush” was almost a standard expression for someone of mixed race. “Coffee and Cream” being the politer, but just as non-PC version.

The confiscation of wallet, car keys, passport etc is imaginable, but only matters if you allow it!!

It seems that Harry expected Charles to be a lot more supportive, and feels let down by his inaction, but even that should have come as no surprise after Diana.

It all reeks of dirty linen aired in public, but if she feels that is her only way of resolving the problems, so be it. The great British unwashed however have an appetite for scandal ( particularly Royal/toffs/upper class ) and it will consume many column inches and sell many more papers tabloid rags.

The ‘journalists’ even tried to squeeze it into the Coronavirus Briefing today, as if there weren’t enough other questions that could/should have taken priority. Boris did an excellent job of elbowing them into the side-lines.

As a Chartist descendant I can quite believe that the Buck House staff have been brainwashed into conforming to the 18th century customs and practices of the Hanovarian upstarts that were invited into this country.

We would be a lot better off if we were not burdened with an out-dated hierarchy.  Harry & Megan have done us all a favour by shining a spot-light on this tawdry institution.

Given his historic faux pas, I was quite surprised to learn that it was not Prince Phillip who made the racist comments!

I don’t mind the royals but there are 2 sides to every story Harry and Megan’s version and a possible alternate version. I said to one of the lads at work today it was probably Prince Philip who made the racist comment but even Prince Harry hasn’t got the balls to drop that bomb shell. The misses has just come in and she isn’t a big fan of the royals and said Megan is an evil piece of shit after what she has seen so far. If they just wanted a quiet life away from the royalty why all this to make themselves the centre of a media storm.

Likely, no more money from Mum, so they have to earn it themselves!!

+1, but also they are friends of Oprah Winfrey, and it would have been surprising if Oprah had not used that relationship to get a ratings-busting interview.

It’s all for the Yankee Dollar, however there will be truths in there that’s for sure.

Harry knows that Archie would never have a title and everything that goes with it, but it suits them to let America draw it’s own conclusion.

That’s true – but on a side note – I know we’re all having problems not being able to get a haircut, what had Oprah done with hers/what the hell was she wearing?? The amount of volume in that hair would put a heavy metal concert to shame!!!

There will also be deliberate misinterpretations to.

I figure harry is a 3 dimensional thinker based around shit.

As a 2nd rate TV ‘star’, Megan is well aware of the old Showbiz adage: “No such thing as bad publicity.”

As an actress schooled in Holywood, she is able to portray one totally different emotion after another. Observe how soon that (admittedly beautiful) face returns to a hard look around the eyes. Charles should have given Harry the advice our dad gave his 3 lads: “Don’t fall for a Film Star. All your friends will be * as attracted as you are.”

That interview was one false note after another, in a tuneless and artificial performance.

*Actually dad said “sniffing around” lol.

Apparently untrue. As soon as Charles takes the throne then his grandchildren automatically receive the title of Prince or Princess. Source one of the Beeb’s tame Royal ‘watchers’. However I do not think he /she automatically gets a stipend – they have to ‘earn’ it through Royal ‘duties’.

Yes, I just caught up with that subtlety. Another twist is that Zara Tindall would never be a Princess as she is Anne’s daughter and only males can pass on their title. You can see why Charles may be thinking of slimming that down to immediate line of succession only. And it is in the hands of the Monarch, not some ancient set in stone rule.

It seems to me they didn’t want to work for The Firm (apart from the bits they liked) any more or abide by their rules but still wanted to be paid, both in money and in kind. I mean poor old Harry only had his £13 million legacy to survive on.

Watching the interview, after Harry joined her, I thought they said that there was some nuance around that ‘right’ and there may well be some rule changing to exclude them. That’s from memory and not detail – I’ll check back on it later.

Still not entirely sure that Harry IS Charles’s son.

Would be amusing if the results of a secret DNA test the palace had done when he was born showed up and proved he wasn’t 🤔

They probably already know if he is or is not Charlies kid.

A wild card here. One of my sisters has a kid who looks nowt like the Dad.

Apparently both parents have to have the Ginger gene.

It is however hard to find any ginger ancestors on Charle’s side, but the wife of George III, Queen Charlotte, may well of been from mixed Portuguese-African descent!

DNA and Gene inheritance is a rocky road. We were 3 brothers (I am the only one left). Senior was very much  like my maternal grandparents: dark hair, tanned to an almost mahogany shade in summer. No.2 Bro inherited features from mother’s side: ginger, lots of freckles, had to use sun cream but tanned OK with it.

Then me. I took bits from them all: same shade as Big Bro after enough sun*. Some freckles, a lighter shade of dark hair, with a weird reddish streak through the left side. All my nephews and nieces were different heights and colouring. One sadly deceased nephew looked just like my dad. His sister, last of 7, looks more and more like my mam as she ages, but is about a foot taller.

In all the Harry parentage debate, no one has pointed out the number of ancestors with blonde or fair hair.

*In 1962 I had just returned from 3 months around the Med. I was definitely mahogany. Told by a barman in a posh West End hotel that “we don’t serve your sort here”. He wound up wearing our two pints, after we convinced him I was not what he thought I was…..

Of course those were the times of unconscious racism. Bob Dylan was yet to blow in the wind and change the times.

But of course the legitimacy of Queen Victoria has also been questioned with the finger of suspicion placed against dashing Sir John Conroy who had been observed in compromising positions with Victoria’s mother. He also appears to have originated the haemophilia gene that plagues the royals.

                                          Conroy  however was not ginger!
