Pm my favourite watch face is called marine commander. Nothing to do with the forces, it just looks classy.
November 15, 2018 at 6:46 pm #28311Is that on Wear OS? This uses Huawei’s own OS.
I’ve tried the watch for about 5 hours and can’t wear it anymore. It catches on my crutches and feels really heavy on my wrist (it’s not heavy really, just my knackered joints and the fatigue I suffer from).
I’m truly gutted. It’s a lovely watch and I really wanted to keep it. My brother is over this weekend so I’ll see if he’s interested in doing a deal, if not it may well be up for sale for a very nice price.
November 15, 2018 at 8:48 pm #28316Wear os, or rather the app store. As I had that face on my watch when I had the pixel.
November 20, 2018 at 3:32 pm #28426My brother fell in love with the watch so he’s had an early Christmas present and I made £50. I’m happy with that.
No idea how long he’ll have it though, my niece also loved it!
November 22, 2018 at 1:42 pm #28457My watch and wireless charger arrived today. In all honestly, I was more excited about the charger than the watch, and it does seem to work very well.
However, I’m not finding the weight problems with the watch that others have found. Having said that, I usually wear a metal cased Sekonda, and since this actually feels lighter than that, perhaps that’s why.
I was surprised that as soon as I paired it with the phone it found a firmware upgrade. There does appear to be some integration with Android apps (the extent of which I haven’t been able to test yet), but it would be nice to at least get a music player control on it.
Nevertheless, I’ll give it a decent go.

November 22, 2018 at 2:40 pm #28459That’s a good point Dan, I never had an issue with the weight of mine, but like you I come from an all metal watch.
One that has almost been fully put away since I got the smart watch. And I’ve worn that watch almost every day since my 21st birthday.
I decide that cis a smart watch is only gonna live 3 years max, I’d fully move to it to get my moneys worth out of it. So the tag is in hibernation. I’ll save it for special occations.
What’s will be the true test is if I buy another at the end of this ones current life, of go back to the tag.
I don’t like the look of most of them, I only chose the one I did because it looks almost normal.
Below is what I have, but with the ‘marine commander’ watch face I can’t seem to get watch screen shot to work, otherwise I’d show thst off.

November 22, 2018 at 2:41 pm #28460One thing I forgot to mention with the watch was the bluetooth pairing. Before my brother paired the watch to his iPhone I forgot the watch in the bluetooth settings and did a factory reset of the watch.
My brother paired his phone with no problems and all was well. For about 5 minutes, when he started getting my notifications and his phone wouldn’t connect again. The watch was not shown in my bluetooth settings. After some head scratching I looked in the app settings and sure enough the watch was shown as paired, this is after a factory reset of the watch don’t forget, I unpaired the phone in the app and all was well. That still has me confused that the app over rides the bluetooth settings, very strange.
November 26, 2018 at 7:01 pm #28562There’s an app in the Huawei App Gallery which could interest Dan, 3D Live Maker
I’ve installed it but find it awkward to use, that could be down to my physical health problems or the low light levels at my place. Or both.
I’ll give it another go at mum’s place next time I’m over there. More light and stuff to try it on.
November 26, 2018 at 7:56 pm #28566Looks interesting, but first test tells me it’s gonna be a PITA to get even a semi-clean scan.

November 26, 2018 at 8:02 pm #28568I can believe that. Why not use one of the rear cameras ?
November 27, 2018 at 7:39 am #28578Like other people I still like the convenience of a wristwatch and the minimal movement required to check the time. My favourite watch is the Pebble Steel with its e-ink screen and >1 week battery life but I recognise when the battery finally dies a new watch will be needed. Having checked around the market I think I am going to go hybrid when that evil day arrives. The Nokia Steel looks nice with a reasonable price point.

Consider a Garmin? I’ve the Vivoactive 3 and it’s got an eInk display that last about a week. I think it could get longer if you turned off activity tracking. They also do a the Vivomove (though I see that’s on the link as well). I did have one briefly, but it didn’t get notifications.

November 27, 2018 at 5:14 pm #28597I’ve tried the 3D Live Maker app again, phone was mounted on a tripod so that was held in place. Also got one of my L.E.D. work lights out to provide some much needed illumination.
Managed to get a half decent scan of an old R/C Mini, not brilliant but recognizable. Also tried a Homer Simpson figure and that’s worse and took much longer.
I’ll get a couple of screen recordings done and post links later.

February 19, 2019 at 5:21 pm #30913Finally remembered to get a (proper) tripod for my phone so I’ve trying out the time lapse and optical zoom today.
I’m very impressed. For a phone camera it’s brilliant.
The tripod is this one and I’m blown away for the money. OK it’s mostly plastic but it should last well if treated with a bit of care.
February 19, 2019 at 6:10 pm #30920I done some test driving timelapses last year. Turned out very well doing a few 40 min drives. Cant find them for the life of me now.
I mustn’t of upolded them to my g-drive, as all I seem to have is my dash cam test footage. (nothing to do with the P20p)
