Anyone use Mataln online for shopping.
I just registered online and went to order, it says free collection (but no link) next link takes you to the payment.
I chose paypal and it then went to my paypal account.
Hang on I haven’t chose my delivery/collection.
Does it give you the option delivery/collection after paying ?
Cheers
JohnJune 2, 2018 at 11:30 pm #21457Your PayPal will provide matalan with your address
June 3, 2018 at 7:17 am #21458Thanks Duke
it’s not my address I need to pick free collection and don’t see the option.
I am not spending enough for free delivery.
Matalan is only down the road (due to disability) I order and collect. It cuts down on time spent in shop/s.
Also a lot of the type item is out of stock so I wanted to order before it came out of stock. Too much time can be spent going and finding out they don’t have what I am after, hence online shopping. To be sure you need to pay first.
Amazon have stock (of the item I need) with free delivery, but they cost more. Going to matalan I save £6.
Cheers
JohnJune 3, 2018 at 7:19 am #21461A lot of companies now use this option. When you do so at check-out just to add to what Steve says they check your PayPal is valid by your signing on to PayPal, then they have your address. You do not actually get billed until you choose method of delivery etc and accept the order. As an option for UK purchases I like it as the vendor never gets a copy of the actual credit card number and I do not need to pfaff around filling out my address. However having been let down badly by PayPal over a Chibay purchase I would never use them for non-UK purchases.

On that then I will continue with order (via paypal) and hope to select collection.
Edit:
I tried again there is no selection for collect, when I tried to pay it said it went wrong choose delivery.
Cheers
JohnJune 3, 2018 at 7:37 am #21467There was a stat kicking about a few years ago that over 90% of all check out baskets are abandoned due to friction of payment. Ie people don’t like, trust or cba, filling out payment screens.
This is why most sites, now offer PayPal as an option. Personally I like it when they use Android pay as I only have to use my fingerprint to check out. Ali express, has a list of about 7 alternative check out methods. Android pay and PP are amongst them.
With the PP check out, as ed said it will asked you if you want to use the address in PP, that your will auto fill, or you can check the alternative address button, then you get bounced back to the site, and what happens then is site specific.
PayPal won’t charge you, untill you hit the final checkout button on the site (matalan in this case)
If you do get stuck, I’m sure you could call the shop, or call in, and get them to order it online and you pay at the till/over the phone (thou over the phone is the most insecure way to pay for anything), then you’ll have to go back to pick it up.

I have tried to select collection with no luck, thanks for the suggestion, I have emailed? it still might be better (as you suggest) to call in, although that defeats the object of online shopping.
Cheers

Yes, but if no-one calls and/or uses info@matalan.co.uk they do not know they have a problem.
June 3, 2018 at 1:04 pm #21478I have only shopped at Matalan Grimsby by traveling the 44 mile round trip to the store, usually for SWMBO’s purchases. Missus likes to “see what I want and try it.” Usual pattern there is that she finds nothing to suit in right colour, fit etc and spends at least an hour to find that out. Meanwhile, not having any particular wish for clothes buying, I wander off and almost always come back with something that fits and looks good. It drives her mad. Then we toddle off to the mall, Freshney Place, and she visit several ladies’ shops, whilst I get a mag or a newspaper with a coffee. I hate shopping, especially for women’s shoes! I have a rough idea of what I want and buy the first suitable item, although I have not bought shoes for about 5 years, because I spend good money at good shops, for shoes that last. SWMBO spends hours trying on shoes, then usually winds up back at the first shop with the first pair. That drives me mad.
I have one double wardrobe for everything: SWMBO has 2x triple wardrobes. When do they ever wear it all?
Maybe it’s a good thing that I am still fond of her.
When the Thought Police arrive at your door, think -
I'm out.June 3, 2018 at 3:11 pm #21483Bob we are so alike, I detest shopping. If it wasn’t for the Internet, I’d be a naturist.
Lucky for me (unlucky for my two girls) the wife too hates shopping, so we don’t do the whole wandering round shops.
However matalan is up there with the worst offenders at being a terrible shopping experiance.
It can be empty, and you’ll still queue for 20 mins, then be told you need a card, so you have to lie, do the whole -‘it’s in here somewhere’, then they give up, and scan their personal card just to get rid of you.
Not a fan. I’ll happily pay Amazon their fee, just to not have to go in shops, and I can order up to 11pm for most things, and it usually turns up about 11am. We must be in the middle for the amazon guys route. Same guy comes my house at least 4 times a week.
It’s got to the point if we’re not in, or don’t get to the door, he opens the door, and places it on the mat, and closes the door. And he scribbles an e sig for me. I don’t mind that.
LOL as I wrote this the argos guy just turned up, for the second time today. I come home this morning to new quilts, apparently the old ones (mine was only 10 or 15 years old) smelt of dog, and the dogs are not to go on the beds no more. Lol, that’s never going to last. Well I know one dog is in my 10 year olds room now, while she is online, so I know exactly where the dog will be, and it won’t be the floor. God knows how much she paid for 7 quilts? But mine isnt right, it’s heavier than my old one. This one is a 10t so I’m assuming the old one was 7.5t. See how tonight goes.
June 3, 2018 at 6:35 pm #21506Thanks Ed
no-one calls and/or uses info@matalan.co.uk
I have told them at info so hopefully it will be fixed?
Duke I went in the shop in the end,
I grabbed a till assistant and she helped all the way to my item and back (that’s service for you.)
There was a big que but got through it pretty quick (10 tills)
O yes the item I was after was online but not in stock at the shop.
I never got far enough (with online ordering) to chack availabilty at my local mat.Cheers
JohnJune 3, 2018 at 6:36 pm #21507If anyone likes shopping I would like to know, (but not try) the drugs they take.
My last pair of shoes came via Amazon, clothes come via past presents and since youngest daughter also dislikes shops with their lights, noise and people, the problem is largely avoided. The internet is the answer to our shopping prayers for almost everything. I did get some shorts from Screwfix a while ago, they were really great, less half the price of most other shops and 4 times the quality with a life measured in years not minutes, they were worth the trip to get them – I checked the stock first!
