So family memeber split small amout of water on key board and it started crackling and apparently shut its self down?

But continued to crackle intermitently for up to 5 mins.

It has been left to dry for a week?

we have only tried to boot up via internal battery not mains and nothing.

The water hit the qwerty area?

Im happy to tackle any windows device but not to sure about every whhats what with mac apparently it is 13 months old??????

Any advice from all angles please.

Probably far too late now, but take a look here.

yes, some good pointers on there.

I guess its time to bite the bullet and take it to bits.

Only ever worked on a large all in one MAC – surprisingly similar to any other desktop PC.

You shouldn’t have any problems getting into it if you are familiar with laptops.

Repairing the faults might be a different matter.

Water and not turning off, letting it shut down, is a recipient of component death. I doubt it will work right, if at all again.

New light ultra books that sealed batteries are doomed to die this way, as there is no way to quickly kill the PC in an emergency. Same issue as most phones have.

Your not gonna beleive this but i Fixed it.

So the water became trapped on the logic board because of the dust. look at the logic board here and see x2 areas of damage to the top looks like a Seagul and the big bad blob area looks like Alien blood damage, infact it did go through to the componets on the other side.

The remedy was: cotton buds, A type of alcohol and a sweing needle.

So I spend about an hour getting all the corrosion off. The components are so small that the sewing needle was only just small enough. It looked like a sword under my jewlers eye peice.

When spick and span I re built it. Pluged it in hit the power button and hey presto. I then spent 45mins testing it.

In the process of repair with the componets being so small I put a nick in the wifi wires and pertly broke the right speaker connection.  🙂

Well done! I’m quite amazed you managed to get a more or less fully functioning system.
