The ‘Dirty Pipe’ severe vulnerability probably now applies only to those who installed Linux one to two years ago and have not bothered to recently update their kernels. This is probably a relatively small number of users.
I’d guess it is more of a problem for relatively new embedded hardware. e.g. ip cameras and Bullseye & Buster Raspberry Pi setups. So I guess this may be a one for Dave and his Hilvision ip cameras, rather than the el cheapo cameras who tend to have older kernels.
