Some time ago Dave posted up a link which led to a full cheap copy of LRC.

So I jumped in. Its a damn complicated tool to have to learn to drive.

Anyway, I have been trying to better the JPEGs pumped out by my RX100mk7 for some time.

Damn as a bench mark the RX is almost impossible to beat.

Where LRC comes on top is with better color representation.

But its 6 of 1 and 1/2 dozen of the other.

So, I do feel sorry for people who have LRC on subscription.

Maybe they are doing better thing with there photos than what I want from mine.

I also feel sorry for peeps trying to process there photos with a crappy MAC book of a few years old. My GTX 1070 does the job in a blink of an eye.

Nice looking camera – great size and specs! I’m surprised that you have to do much to your pics, but if you are really serious in your tweaking then I’d recommend shooting in the RAW format as that usually gives that extra couple of bits to play with.

What I would really like is a 48bit camera as that could really sort out light-dark contrasts, and give superior HDRI.

I shoot RAW, JPEG at the same time. RAW are exported to LRC and the JPEG of the same image acts as the bench mark.

I have today contacted Sony and asked for a firmware up-date to address said issue. No doubt they will have a draw full, but will they send me one.

          Nah!

But heads up, look at this. The SPAD sensor. It effectively see’s like we do. no doubt it will be mainstream in 15 years time.

Apparently it is better to see like a Bug – its compound eyes have better focus capabilities.

Alternately, see like a Harris Hawk – they have superior telephoto and colour contrast capabilities.
