I second Richard’s thoughts: may you continue making all us other Oldpharts think on these forums. Good luck with any health issues that may be concerning you.
John, this is slightly off-topic, but is your landlord Waterloo Housing Group, or one of its constituent Associations? That’s my landlord, the biggest social housing group in the UK. If it is, you can access their website and get some advice there.

It’s not Waterloo Housing Group, It’s Walsall Housing Group, better known as WHG.
Cheers

That’s strange John. This is my landlord: http://www.waterloo.org.uk/
They are Waterloo Housing Group, same initials, WHG. Used to be several separate Associations: ours was local and named New Linx Housing Trust. They amalgamated with several more Associations and the whole thing moved to Solihull Business Park in Brum. Now we have a situation that is really dumb: we have a pull – cord system in our bungalows for after hours emergency. That is managed by Chubb Security in Leeds. So if we have an emergency, e.g. plumbing or electrical, we pull the cord. A Leeds voice answers, takes details and informs Solihull. A Brummie voice calls us and asks what we want. If it’s necessary to call out a plumber or electrician, they phone the one on call out duty. That will be a WHG tradesman in Lincolnshire, usually in Louth or nearby. Imagine some elderly Lincolnshire resident talking to a Yorkie or a Brummie, trying to make sense of each other’s accents. It is stark, raving bonkers.
Daftest part 1: they built a brand new, dedicated HQ in Louth a few years ago. It is almost empty, huge car park, they can’t sell it because they want what it cost to build and equip.
Daftest part 2: most of the bosses that relocated to Solihull from here, are now running the Group. A few more did not go but took redundancy. Some went and came back, they could not stand the city and found the housing unaffordable.
Your WHG has a good website. Ours is absolute krap.

I'm out.February 1, 2018 at 9:31 pm #16499I /we can only telephone in an emergancy, if it’s a normal repair we can go in – phone – email – or report online. At least it stops in this area without the boomerang and we tend to speak the same. I still find it better to use the internet, I then don’t get to hear that message (i’m sure you know) that uses up all my cash to listen over and over till I get to talk to someone.
Cheers
