Not exactly sure of the model it looks like this
It has Windows 8.1 2gb ram and seems to have a 20gb C Drive. With such small HDD it keeps filling up with updates.
I keep cleaning it, but more and more space gets used up, it only had 332mb free yesterday.
I again cleaned it and got about 2gb back (this gets lees & less each time) files-data etc
are saved to USB drive. Is there a way to upgrade the OS HDD space (I don’t think it’s a physical drive)
so Windows updates don’t keep eating the space.February 26, 2017 at 11:52 am #4517You’re right John, it’s all soldered to the motherboard. I think the idea is that like a Chromebook you store everything in the cloud. You can add an SD card for storage but that won’t help with the filling up the system drive problem.
Now you’re on 10 I’m not sure if you can delete the recovery partition, but try typing Recovery in the Cortana “Ask me anything” box.
If you are lucky Recovery Manager will be found, if it is start it.
Click Advanced options.
Select the Remove recovery partition option and click Next.
When prompted to verify that you want to delete the partition, select the Yes option, and click Next.
Allow the removal process to continue and restart the PC.Whatever you do DO NOT use a partition manager to remove or tinker with the recovery partition as you’ll end up with a non booting Stream.
February 26, 2017 at 3:29 pm #4524I formatted the drive on mine and use it with Xubuntu – no issues there with space filling up. I’ve used less than 10GB of the 32GB space.

February 26, 2017 at 4:06 pm #4525Ideal I would think for the usage that sort of kit is likely to be put to.
My only question would be is the printer supported?
EDIT – I did think that an option would be to install W10 from a USB stick and just wipe the whole 32GB. But I fear that would only put off the day we’re back here with the same problem. I’ve always been skeptical about these 32GB Windows devices since they appeared with W8.
February 26, 2017 at 5:30 pm #4533Linix then kodi, turn it into a dedicate TV, for all your Ill gotten content.
Ive not booted my linx 7 32gb win 8 now 10 pad for about a year.

I nuke my little Dell 3050 (pretty much the same specs) once a month or so, updates are a PINTA, never enough space. May well go back to Mint at some stage but some stuff didn’t play nice.

Works fine with the printer at cadets (a wireless one but can’t recall the make or model currently). Only thing I’ve had to do to mine is use a USB wifi stick cos the inbuilt one is extremely poor. The USB one is picked up and works fine but Xubuntu (and Mint from when it was on there) wasn’t able to display signal strength for some reason).

Forumite Points: 0Thanks Dave
The link is the latest which has Windows 10, this one is still on 8.1
I will try the recovery (next time) it’s gone back to the daughter.
If after using your method, will the deleted recovery part space go to C: or will it still be another drive D:
I am hoping after re start it will configure into C:
February 26, 2017 at 10:31 pm #4552I honestly have no idea, but once it’s gone if there is any free space we can do something about it.
What we don’t want to do is what others have done and upset the booting by doing it themselves.

Forumite Points: 0Dave – your method of deleting factory partition in recovery manager, it brings up HP Recovery Manager and delete isn’t in there.
March 1, 2017 at 9:36 pm #4654Search me John, try googling and see if anyone knows why.
