JohnDecember 24, 2018 at 9:31 pm #29466Yes, Season Greetings to everyone.
The beef is in the oven leaving room for the girlies rose and white wine to go in, the red is out waiting. My beer fridge is stuffed to the gunwales and there’s a nice bottle of port, prosecco and Mediterranean gin from the Christmas wine box too.
Veg is all prepared, turkey goes in first thing then about noon all hell gets let loose ?
Boxing Day is the best day, just us and the best meal of all; bubble and squeak, cold meat and every pickle known to man. And more booze of course!
December 24, 2018 at 10:14 pm #29467Happy Christmas all. Hope the next year is better than the last.
Though I’m sat here in home alone pj’s! So I’m not sure which way my Xmas is about to go!!!

The kids will soon let you know your Christmas Destiny and the wife will tell you to get on with it!!????
December 24, 2018 at 11:52 pm #29471All the stuff is done now. Whatever isn’t, well, it’s too late to change it now.
Although we can’t find the MiL presant, and we are due there at 12pm. So there will be some frantic searching no doubt tomorrow morning. Other than that all is done.
For the past many years, I’ve ended up waking the kids at 10am (due to trh 12pm MiL trip), but tomorrow my eldest girl is in work at 6am, so I’m hoping she doesn’t wake her sister up. As that will suck.
Then boxing day I’m at the footy. Glad it’s a late kick off, as no doubt I’ll be rough as hell.
December 25, 2018 at 8:01 am #29472Wishing all a very Merry Christmas and a (for many) far happier 2019. I know that for some (most?) there is potential as Bob said. It is now already Christmas Day so the die has been cast as to its form, most preparations are done with here, just the final veg to do when the kitchen is free of daughter and wife who are chatting. Two power cuts in the night do not bode well for the rest of the day, but we can live in hope even though it is nasty cold outside.
December 25, 2018 at 10:02 am #29475Wishing you one and all a very Happy Xmas, a Prosperous New Year and for those of us with health issues a speedy recovery.

December 25, 2018 at 12:32 pm #29478Lovely quiet day here today. A few years ago we cracked the secret of Christmas – just the wife and I, and we lounge around, and we are able to eat/drink what and when we fancy without all the frantic preparations. Today is duty day for the kids when they do all the driving and descend on their partner’s parents to show off the grandchildren.
In contrast tomorrow will be hell when they all descend on us, but at least we can totally ignore tradition and cook something tasty like rib roast or sous-vide a large roll of fillet steak (quick bit of charring to finish). The kids also appreciate not having to put up with bits of cold bird.
I’m off now to brew up some mulled wine, and toast you all. Hope you all have a great time!
December 25, 2018 at 2:13 pm #29479May I add, Saturnalia, Yuletide, or festival to whatever gods you believe in.

December 26, 2018 at 1:57 am #29485Well thats it for another year, hope you all had a good one. Later today I return from my mum’s to my flat and the serious merry making can begin ???
December 26, 2018 at 3:16 am #29486That was a long day. My girl 10 stayed up all night, my 16 lad, was up ill all night. They both got off around 6am, and my eldest girl woke the house at 07:00h with er work alarm, and my eldest lad turned up at 07:15h! So that was everyone up them. (even the dogs looked pissed off!)
Dropped them all at the in laws at 12:00h and us men went the pub, and as my eldest girl was in work and not back till 17:00h, dinner wasn’t till 18:00h,so for the first year since I’ve been attending, we was home before the women had had to send us 10 messages. At 17:30h a bit worse for wear, (the women was in much better order tbh).
So a bottle of rose with my lunch and I was home for 20:00h, and asleep within seconds. And woke at 23:00h.
My 10yo lasted just to finish dinner, and went bed, so is still at her Nan’s, she was saying anyway as we’re at the footy tomorrow. Cba if I’m honest, but M taking my lad and nephew,so can’t bail.
I did get new thermal, which is all I asked for, so I’ll Atleast be warm. My old pussers ones zeitjer shank or I’ve finally out expanded them. I opt for the former, and blame the wife. Lol.
