Happy New Year To All, Past and Present !

Firstly, thank you to those for the donations throughout the year, I would have liked a good drink at Christmas but we can not have everything, and seeing the cats stuff their face was worth it. It’s been an up-and-down year for me, in work one minute and out the next, and all going well back in on January the 4th. Then there is the high blood pressure and diabetes that came apparent mid-year.

In short here is to a better new year for all.

Now, to the point. I am making some changes to the site which some may have noticed. These mostly centered around security changes. I am sick of having to clear up to 100 false registrations per day. So, I am going to be ”battling down the hatches” if that’s the correct term, and try and fix the issue for good.

With that in mind, it’s important for you to ensure your e-mail address is correct in your profile. I will also be doing a few minor changes here and there just to make it more easy to manage. I know there are only a few of us now but that should not mean I should let things slip.

Anyhow, enjoy the rest of your holidays and I’ll see you on the other side.

I am sorry that others have had a rotten year for 2022.

My wife, who has been battling illness for some years, was dealing with her third round of cancer treatment for the third cancer. Unfortunately, October brought the news that the cancer had won, treatment had failed, and she had no more than six months left. In early November she collapsed never to walk again, the brain tumours were in control, and in early December, she died at home with her family surrounding her, as she wished. We had the funeral three days before Christmas, but not before the doctor went on holiday, delaying the death certificate, a water main added to the problems by blocking off access to the surgery, post office and pharmacy, you get the picture. There was a good turn out for the funeral, and many came for the subsequent wake, though, perhaps not enough, I am still eating leftovers today.

Will 2023 be better? I wonder. Today I could barely walk, muscle pains are crippling me and I see no way to break free. The dog is not impressed, she may be about 14 years  old, but she wants a real walk or two per day. so I have a head full of plans and objectives and a body full of nothing useful: it is not a great package.

I also wish all who see this message,  a good 2023, after mine and the message above, it cannot be worse, can it?

Sometimes life kicks you hard. I’ve had a lot of crap over the years but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Richard, sorry to hear about your wife, and your constant pains.  I hope 2023 brings you some relief and a little happiness.

Some years seem to be full of downers, I just hope that 2023 is a turnaround year for everyone, and that we can all start feeling optimiistic once again.

Well, managed to get out for two pints of larger “Happy Hour” for £2.50 for something called Export “Not Carlsberg Export” generic white label this aft, and hopefully one more this evening if all goes well. I have been doing some repotting of my plants this aft and have so many varieties of chillie plants now and more to come it’s going to be interesting to see what happens come the warmer months.

The new login confused me, but I got there. Just made small donation, but the Paypal link just gave a whirling arrow. However I was able to use an old link, hopefully OK.

When I was 9 yrs old, I was sentenced to 6 months in hospital with rheumatic fever. Permanently damaged heart apparently, and I used to “take care” (notwithstanding motorbikes of course. An insurance company refused cover for house purchase after giving me a thorough check. I saw my local GP and asked him just how bad I really was. He gave me a complete examination, confirming I had heart damage, but said there was no reason I should not live to a grand old age. Shortly after that I “ran for a bus” across Hanley, with a colleague, who I believed was fit as he used to do some cross country type of running. We just made it onto the bus, and both sagged into two heaps of gasping for breath near corpses. 5 mins later, we both began to recover normality at the same time. That made me think, maybe not as bad as I had been led to believe.

After that, I never looked back, and here I am at 81years with nowt amiss. I will be out on the bike for my normal Saturday run in the morning as usual, and hopefully for a few more Saturdays yet.

When I hear of those around me, including those of you here I have “met” over the last 15 or more years (before we became “forumite”), plus direct pals, many younger than me who are suffering bad heath, or are no more, I realise just how lucky I have been.

After all that may I wish you all better health, better luck, better prospects not just for 2023, but (with me hopefully) for many more years to come.

And let us all remember BOB. I did not do my recent “annual video”, as I had hoped he would watch it. I will try to do one on July 23rd 2023 and then annually again.

Meanwhile I must get on with the plumbing in my long time small extension, I finished all the electrics, shower, radiator, sink, and just bog pan left. Then some flooring, decorating and hopefully it will be finished.

In the Grand scheme of things Richard & Les my issues are a minor itch. In fact, many in this country are suffering and I am lucky to 1. Have my cats “They’re very important to me” & 2. This place, that brings me to the next point. I will keep this place going so anyone can vent some steam if needs be, as I do.

Mind, I may ban Les due to him not inviting me and the cats over there.!

I can see from the corner that you’ve got a bed/climbing frame/scratching post for them, yet they still all prefer to lounge on the back of the sofas!!!! That’s cats for you – independent as f*ck until feeding time!!

They have two identical ones, they use them when they want to cuddle up to the radiator.

I have been trying to add a cat picture, but the dialog box for Insert Picture – Source has no way to browse to anything and copy and paste into the message body doesn’t do anything either. This is using every browser I have! So imagine a black and white cat who is, as usual, fast asleep.
