October 17, 2018 at 4:00 pm #27278Happy Birthday, Richard. Hope it doesn’t get lost in the plethora of other distractions you currently oversee.
Actually, I hope it’s a real birth date and not a forum guess’um…..??
October 17, 2018 at 6:07 pm #27279Thank you chaps but, something has slipped a notch or two. I wondered if I had screwed up my DOB as it is not until the new year. On checking I can see that I did fudge the issue slightly to control the risks of data harvesting, but not that widely.
Today was a busy one, a few miles of dog walking a round trip wife wife to her hospital review, that went down so well we have a repeat performance tomorrow! Meanwhile we await developments over daughter’s sheltered accommodation application. So life is anything but slow and dull.

JohnOctober 18, 2018 at 12:09 am #27292Happy fake birthday! 😀
October 18, 2018 at 7:57 am #27305Mine is a fake Birthday as well!
As posted elsewhere, at best I ‘Blair the truth’ in response to nearly every on-line form. However I’m not alone, as studies show that only 30% of people naively tell the truth . Trusting lot are we not.
October 18, 2018 at 8:24 am #27306I did not force people to enter there birthday, it was optional. I said at the time fudge it by a day or so. But for those who want to go beyond that there is no point bothering at all and I really do not appreciate fake user info after the effort I try to put in so please just remove your D.O.B if you fear I will sell it on the dark web or a scraper comes across, all baddies blocked mostly as are most other countries….

October 18, 2018 at 9:48 am #27308Not that I fear your motives, just a habit I have acquired over the years. I even lie to my bank about my mother’s maiden name, and first pet. I’m afraid that your system is completely at the mercy of the software you use. Another Word Press screw-up/zero-day, or a new Linux SQL injection code exploit could undo all your good intentions.
For that reason I had actually left my birthday as blank on this site (some sites such as the Brother Printer or Steam registration do not let you do so).
Having said that, I think a measure of truth is required in birthdate/age on social media sites such as this. I would not want anyone to think that I was a 16 year old dolly-bird. A 22+++ years old male will do as a tag!
October 18, 2018 at 5:40 pm #27315I agree that a measure of truth is required, however the precision of truth may be less desirable from the point of many users. The date I entered was close, based in part on a deceased close relative, but constructed to give an age that does reflect the truth. At one point it appeared that a date was a requirement, so I went for the fudge.

A bit too far fortunately. But I’m still 22 at heart, its just I can no longer see the rest properly without my specs.

Not far enough unfortunately. But I’m still 22 at heart, its just I can no longer see the rest properly without my specs.
Well you come across as younger than that, also some of your projects obviously keep the mind young, even if the fingers have trouble keeping up!!
