Nolan, when I damaged my knee playing Army football, I had a go at the oval ball, was told to play hooker and they called me “B*****k Biter Williams” after an unsavoury incident against an equally useless RAF team. ? We were not a serious team, I really had no clue what I was doing, but managed to get a few good games against some of the few German teams. The best times were against the Hamburg Polizei, which made for some really interesting outings, as their station was in St. Pauli, in the centre of the Red Light district. ?? Their team had the biggest German I ever saw, no kidding in fact the biggest human I ever saw. They called him Baby and he could walk between the posts with several opposing players still attached to him! They always gave us a great time, including massive meals and loads of booze. I expressed a liking for sauerkraut, which was mistake, as they would heap my plate with it. Never ate it again after leaving Germany. ??
