I'm out.July 10, 2017 at 7:27 pm #10055Much easier Richard to just use your phone to pay instead of a card. They Google can really pin point you. Also with android pay, they don’t give your bank the info, so then just one person (google has that data). Not sure how Apple pay works, but think it’s a similar approach.
Your life is about on par with mine Richard. As I’m self employed, working form home, Google keeps insisting I work at the hospital, cos that’s my most frequented place. I kept telling it I don’t, but about 4 times a year it tells me I do! I gave up in the end.
So now if I say “OK google, navigate to work” it pulls up the directions to out local hospital.
Hope all is going well Dave.
July 10, 2017 at 7:38 pm #10056Google has me in Nottingham today. (I’m at home in my Lincs village, at least 65 miles from the city.)
Yesterday I was apparently in Doncaster, when I was actually in Cleethorpes, gazing across the Humber at what would have been the Yorkshire bank, obscured by a long brown smudge and haze. What were you guys burning, Lee and Doc Yorkie? ??

July 11, 2017 at 1:53 pm #10074Greeted by 34 degrees and thunderstorm but that was all over by the time we left the station for 100 metres walk to hotel. Local restaurants great. Grosser special beer was most welcome. Schnitzel was perfect.
28 degrees today, overcast a.m now scorchio. Been sightseeing, did the ring tram (well worth it) 30 mins with commentary.
Wachau (danube) Valley 3 hour cruise tomorrow. E55 each with return train travel. Melk to Krems. Forecast 30 degrees and sunny, but a thunderstorm can come out of anywhere (and go as quickly).
Did I mention the beer is wonderful ?
July 11, 2017 at 2:34 pm #10076Enjoy the cruise and the beer Dave, I remember it well. I love Austria, but mostly visited the Innsbruck/Tyrol area. I used to use the local buses, always bought a 7 – or 5 – day ticket for unlimited travel. Beautiful scenery, gorgeous villages, we used to get off at any village we liked the look of. Being able to speak the language was a big help, as we were among rural people, who gave us a fantastic welcome. I always appreciated how much respect and good feeling there was for the UK there. Local food in the non-tourist Gasthofs and Gasthausen, was much plainer, but much tastier, than the tourist places. The beer and wine was always good, but the local Schnapps and Obst Schnapps, dangerous! We once went to an Alpine Fire Station party half way down the mountain. No idea how I got back to the hotel.
My favourite place was Igls, in the mountains above Innsbruck. We could get on a cable car and go up to the Patscherkofel:

Or catch a choice of bus or tram, down to the city of Innsbruck.
